Terrific Takeout: Carastina
There is a brand new hot spot in Manhattan called Carastina and you all need to know about it.
Not only is the decor beautiful, as we noticed when we stepped inside to pick up our takeout, but the menu is beautiful as well.
And we can now verify that the taste is outstanding.
A crowing glory of the choices is the Arogosta Arrabiatta: Tagliolini, Maine Lobster, and Fresh Spicy tomato sauce. It is August in Manhattan and Lobster such as this will make your day. The lobster meat was fresh and delicious and easily pulled out of the shell while the sauce was flavorful without being overpowering.
Not since The Rose Club at The Plaza have we had an lobster salad as outstanding as the Insalata Aragosta by Carastina. Chilled Maine lobster joined summer greens, fennel, avocado and lemon dill cream to have a party on the plate in a perfect variety of ingredients, each in the right size and quantity.
You can tell Peachy ate her dinner backwards; she was absolutely too excited for lobster. the Tartara de Tonno was a lovely appetizer consisting of yellow fin, chili oil, cucumber, grapefruit and avocado. The grapefruit paired with the yellow fin was a striking combination and one we have not seen before. The creativity of the Carastina menu is enough to intensely spark your culinary desires without leaving you the feeling that it is so creative you think you might be eating on Mars....
It has only been open for a week, and we hope we are the FIRST to tell you.
