Terrific Takeout: Zana Restaurant

All Italian restaurants are not created equally, and you know we've been lucky enough to go to the best ones, and our first experience at Zana was a good one!  Located at 30 East 30th street, you would think that instead they were oceanside, that is how fresh the mussels were.  In past reviews you know Peachy Deegan has just adored Mussels Provencale by french hot spots Bistro Vendome and Jubilee, and we were excited to try them Italian-style!  The Prince Edward Island Mussels of san marzano tomato, calabrian chile and white bean (or you can order them: shallot, white wine, lemon) will invigorate your senses and this red sauce is truly fantastic.  The tiny bits of garlic danced through this dish with panache, and you know who loves garlic.
The Classic Caesar of hearts of romaine, parmegiano, ciabatta croutons, prosciutto chips, lemon anchovy vinaigrette was decidedly fresh and the arrangement was just beautiful.  Everything in it was crispy and delightful and the cheese was especially outstanding.  Finally, we tried the jumbo shrimp scampi, with lemon, parsley, white wine, garlic, saffron risotto, which was great, and we really loved the presentation-look at how appealingly the shrimp are arranged with their tails beautifully twisted.  When those tails twist their way into your mouth, one big smile will appear on your face!
We enjoyed meeting Tim Gashi and are pleased to say Zana is Terrific Takeout!
