The Caravaggio Hit Parade Continues with the Maine Steamed Lobster, White Truffle Risotto, Eggplant to Die For (Cosimo's Mother's Recipe), Gorgeous Flowers and Teodora's Surprise Cocktail!
You have not lived until you have had the heavenly risotto with freshly shaved white truffle on it, shaved by owner Cosimo Bruno himself.
As you know, Peachy picked Caravaggio earlier this year:
and every time we visit 23 East 74th Street, we become more and more enthralled with the superior dining experience that is unique to Caravaggio.
The cuisine, the acute attention to detail exuded by each member of the team there, and the classy atmosphere brought to an unparalleled level is truly something each Manhattanite and visitor to New York must experience. Even the flowers are perfect, and you have seen us feature them several times:
You know in previous posts we have told you Giuseppe Bruno artistically and diligently arranges these flowers that change weekly.
Worldwide, now everyone is thinking back to 9/11/01 because we are upon its ten year anniversary; as you may know from Peachy's mentions here and there she was on one of the last if not the last subway cars down to Fulton Street from Grand Central making her way to her Lehman Brothers office that morning, and was walking towards the World Trade Center as the second plane went in and the first was on fire. She was physically fine that day, however, if she was not and passed, she is certain that if she woke up in heaven it would be just like dining at Caravaggio.
Though of course we love to drink The Peachy Deegan, we are always thrilled to try something new, especially when it is created by one of the best bartenders in town, Teodora Dolha. It does have bubbles, it has peach, and we're going to make you guess what else is in it next time you dine at Caravaggio-ask Teodora she will know what you are talking about-the latest and greatest. From a culinary standpoint, we began with a refreshing tomato gazpacho. The best eggplant we've had by a mile is a recipe by Cosimo's mother:
Just looking at that picture along should have you smiling and dialing to get your reservation for tonight. This is the kind of gastronomic delight that winks at you and says: "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful." And you wink back at it as you artfully slice it and savor every delicious bite of buffalo ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, sauce and vegetable in this perfect symphony of taste. It is even better if you sip Star Vodka with lychees swimming in your tumbler inbetween bites. Italian eggplant with a touch of tomato and parmigiano is a fantastic treat that is not nearly of this caliber at any other restaurant we've experienced.
Above is the perfect risotto with shaved white truffles. You'll swear the angels must have made this once you have bite. The crowing glory of the meal you ask? The September lobster at Caravaggio of course:
We say September because we don't want you to confuse it with the original one...
Seasonal lobster dishes are in high demand by Peachy who subsequently will speak about it everytime she eats lobster somewhere else because it has not been as fine as it is at Caravaggio anywhere else; here is our first lobster experience at Caravaggio:
Fresh corn and fresh pomegranate juice graced the fresh steamed Maine September lobster.
The pork chops at Caravaggio are simply divine as well:
Seared to perfection, they are peachy too, both literally and figuratively. Check out the pork chop's sidekick which was of course a peach. Even the dessert was peachy:
If you have yet to dine at Caravaggio, we simply do not know what you are waiting for!
Carpe Diem!
