Peachy at The Met: Frans Hals in the Metropolitan Museum—on view from July 26, through October 10, 2011—presents 13 paintings by Hals, including two lent from private collections, and several works by other Netherlandish masters

As you know, we have been telling you about Frans Hals at The Met:

Finally, Peachy Deegan took a stroll over to see it!  It was so sad not to see McQueen there anymore.  One of the three major Dutch painters of his time which was of course the Golden Age, Frans Hals influenced and impressed even the likes of Van Gogh, which you will read on the walls once you are at the exhibit.  There is even a Frans Hals museum in Harlem-no not that one here, the one on the other side of the pond.  You do know this used to be New Amsterdam...not New York.  His use of light is exemplary and the shadows and expressions of the people featured are simply outstanding.  Above is a picture of Mardi Gras revelers by him in times before The Peachy Deegan cocktail existed...how fun would it be to photoshop it in!  We liked the Fisher Girl also with her red sleeves in contrast to the rest of the painting-if that were on Peachy's photo disk we'd pop it in this post, but that is only one more reason for you to swing by The Met and see this exhibit.  Vincent Van Gogh may have been a fabulous artist but his grammar needs work; on the wall of the met he uses the word "less" instead of "fewer" which should have been used instead because the noun it describes is plural...
