Peachy Picks Finnegan's Wake
Their site tells us:
Finnegans Wake opened for business March 16, 1972. It has been under my ownership and personal supervision ever since. Rico, Rene, Antonio, and Richard are in charge of my kitchen and have been with me for a total of 130 years. The wait staff, over the years have been part of my family, going to college, entering the corporate and entertainment fields, and excelling. Thanks also to the wonderful girls like Finola who elected to make the hospitality field their profession. I am so proud of each and every one of my staff, and my loyal customers, and my landlord. Three generations of Kadvans, all of whom helped to put Finnegans Wake on the map.

And we are telling you:
you need to go and experience this for yourself and definitely meet Tony because he is a winner!

Finnegan's Wake was first featured in Terrific Takeout:
And it then graduated to Tasty Tidbits:
Its fantastic cuts of meat and equally delicious potatoes, stellar Irish coffee and engaging charm of the owner, Tony King, puts Finnegan's Wake on the map and has earned it a spot in Peachy's Picks.
Of course, you know it's named after a masterpiece by James Joyce:

There was not an empty table there all night and that is testament to the quality that you will find there.

Peachy Deegan started off with a pint of Guinness.
You KNOW Guinness is good for you-it's not just an ad.
Being Irish never goes out of style and we were excited about the lovely Irish comfort food to come. But to begin with, Peachy began with the Chef's Salad.

Fresh and delicious, the tomatoes, eggs, ham, turkey, cheese and lettuce were the perfect start.
The vinaigrette was on the side just like it was requested.
Alex Kocheva was delightful all night and was personable as well as professional and Bernie was there to greet us when we arrived. Especially as we head towards the colder weather, going to a warm Irish place warms not only your stomach but also fills your soul.

For her entree, Peachy Deegan had the Prime Rib of Angus Beef with mashed potatoes and it was simply fabulous. Some vegetables joined the party and this meal totally hit the spot. It was medium as requested and every bite was savored.
For anyone that is watching Dancing with the Stars and thinks Nancy Grace has found a great Irishman, take a look at this:
Peachy and Tony King, her new Irish boyfriend!
Peachy also sipped on some lovely Magner's, which she has loved since she was a student at University College Cork, (you know Magner's began in Tipperary in 1935) and Irish coffee was the perfect punctuation to a splendid night. Don't just listen to Peachy though!

We recently reviewed Finnegan's Wake--a venerable Irish restaurant and pub on E.73rd Street (& 1st ave). The restaurant is well-known and frequented by locals from the UES as it has been in operation since the early 70's--a fact that not many NYC restaurants can boast of. Owner Anthony King runs the establishment with love and pride.
The menu is straightforward with simple dishes and relatively fewer choices including traditional Irish dishes such as Shepard's Pie, Corned beef, bangers and mash, fish and chips and more. The prices are inexpensive and the portions are generous. The service was prompt, attentive and courteous.
For dinner, we sampled the Chicken wings for starters which we loved. For the main course we dined on steak au poivre. The peppercorn sauce made the meal with its spice. The steak was amply Portioned and well cut. Very fresh. We also enjoyed an Irish coffee for dessert. Overall, we recommend Finnegan's Wake.
