NYIGF “Driven by Design” for Winter 2012 Market
To reinforce NYIGF’s unique positioning as the style and design standard-setter among gift and home industry events, a new “Driven by Design” marketing campaign has been launched for the winter 2012 market. The campaign, which is reflective of the design resources throughout NYIGF’s ten divisions, complements the NYIGF’s three-year strategic reorganization which culminates in 2013 with the introduction of four comprehensive market categories – Home, Craft, Lifestyle and New.
“Design is a common denominator among all of NYIGF’s ten divisions and a key differentiator from other U.S. gift, home and lifestyle markets,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “This new campaign allows us to showcase NYIGF’s design orientation beyond Accent on Design and Handmade – both widely recognized for their superlative aesthetics – into NYIGF divisions which are categorized by product type.”
A secondary focus for the winter 2012 market is housewares, following the success of the summer 2011 launch of the Gourmet Housewares Show® at NYIGF. To meet buyer demand for specialty kitchenware resources, an expanded concentration of leading housewares suppliers will be presented within the Tabletop & Housewares division at NYIGF this winter. As a complement to exhibit floor offerings, NYIGF also will sponsor theHomeWorld Business’ 9th Annual Housewares Design Awards, which are presented during the winter market.
NYIGF’s other category-specific product neighborhoods will continue to grow and evolve for the winter market, with expansion of the new “On Trend” neighborhood inGeneral Gift and the “Artisan Jewelry Showcase” within New York ’s Newest. Handmade jewelry resources also will be further concentrated within Personal Accessories.
A full schedule of educational sessions and after-hours events will add extra value to the market experience. NYIGF’s seminars, which address color and design trends, sustainability, social media and retail strategies, will be presented by a faculty of experts from trade publications and industry associations, such as ART (Accessories Resource Team), CRAFT (Craft Retailers & Artists for Tomorrow), Day Spa Association and IFDA (International Furnishings & Design Association). Special events planned during NYIGF include “A Night on Broadway,” with specially-priced tickets to a popular Broadway show; Gift For Life’s 20th Anniversary Event, “Party for Life 2012;” and free admission to a leading cultural institution, compliments of New York Market partners. Complete information information and registration will be available online at www.nyigf.com/programsafter October 17.
“Open House,” a new special display showcasing design trends influencing all categories of home products will debut at NYIGF this winter. NYIGF’s popular SustainAbility: design for a better world® display will return to showcase eco-friendly and socially-respectful products.
