As my daughter is starting to read and recognize words, I was thrilled to receive the Ready-to-Read series by Kay Thompson. What name is synonymous with Kay Thompson? The Fabulous Eloise! Eloise Throws Party is a delightful story about Eloise throwing a surprise party for her beloved dog weenie. The party is a huge success without any traumas, surprisingly. The large letter format is great at helping beginners to sound out words and READ!
We love Eloise in my class. The Eloise Ready to Read series is perfect for some of my more struggling readers. I have several students who wanted to plan a party after reading this book. They wanted to decorate and dress just like Eloise. One girl asked if I could invite my dogs to the party they wanted to plan during recess. I love to see the excitement they get when picking up a book they love and can read. I give Eloise an A+!
Eloise Throws a Party is one of the cutest books out there. The book is neither too short nor too long for those little readers. It's a fun way to get your child into the reading spirit. Quick witted and funny. Your child won't want to put it down. I love that it also brings me back to my childhood. The story is just wonderful and drags you right into the plot!
As a professional event planner, I find it absolutely essential to teach my daughter the ins and outs at a young age! What better entry than in the form of my favorite eternally 6 year old girl? Eloise Throws a Party is in a word - fun! My daughters giggle as we watch Eloise prepare a party for her beloved Weenie. The lesson above all else -- have fun! In the end it's all about spending some quality time with your friends and family (canine included)!
"Eloise Throws a Party" is splendid, splendid, splendid! Eloise wants to throw Weenie (her dog) a surprise party. And seeing as Eloise always gets what Eloise wants, she does! With Nanny's help, Eloise throws a great party for Weenie. Only in Eloise's world would the manager of The Plaza, the doorman, and room service attend a birthday party for a dog! My four year old loved the silliness of throwing a birthday party for a dog ("Mom, the dogs are wearing party hats!") and truth be told, so did I! This "Ready-To-Read, Level 1" Eloise book is quite delightful!
