RESULTS: Photographs at Sotheby's

Today’s Photographs auction at Sotheby’s New York brought a total of $4,754,376, comfortably within the $3.6/5.5 million estimate.

Commenting on the sale Christopher Mahoney, Senior Vice President, Sotheby's Photographs Department said: “The fact that the ten most expensive lots in today’s auction include photographers as diverse as Ansel Adams, Pierre Dubreuil, Diane Arbus, and Alexander Gardner demonstrates the richness and depth of the market.  The prices we achieved for Pierre Dubreuil, a complete set of Camera Work, and Gardner’s Photographic Sketch Book of the War have set new auction records, illustrating, once again, that collectors are prepared to go the distance for truly rare and important works.”
