100 WOMEN IN HEDGE FUNDS ANNOUNCES 2012 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TRANSITION AND NEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS
100 Women in Hedge Funds ("100WHF") today announced the election of its new Global Association and London Executive Committees, as well as new Board members. On the 100WHF Global Board, Mimi Drake, President of Permit Capital Advisors, was elected as Chair, and Sandra Urie, Chairman and CEO of Cambridge Associates, was elected as Vice Chair, both appointments effective as of January 1, 2012. Anne Popkin, President of Symphony Asset Management and current Global Board Chair, and Mindy Posoff, current Global Vice Chair, will both remain on the Global Board.
The London Board, which represents European affiliates within the 100WHF global association, elected Kristen Eshak Weldon, Managing Director of The Blackstone Group International, as its new Chair, and Kathryn Graham, Director at BT Pension Scheme Management, will join the Executive Committee as London Vice Chair. Effie Datson, Product Head of the dbSelect Platform at Deutsche Bank, the current London Chair, will remain on the London Board. In addition, two new members will be appointed to the Global Association Board: Kristen Eshak Weldon, as the formal representative of the London Board, and Diane Schrader, Founder and CEO of Lionfish Capital, and current Chair of 100WHF's Northern California location.
Under the leadership of Anne Popkin and Mindy Posoff, the organization has grown to over 10,000 members in 14 locations, with more than 60 education events being hosted around the world in just the last year alone. In addition, philanthropic fundraising in 2011, our 10th anniversary year, has risen to over $3.5M (including funds from Galas in New York, London and Geneva.). In recent years, the organization has also successfully ensured its long term financial stability.
Anne Popkin, outgoing 100WHF Global Chair, said, "I am honored to have served as Global Chair for 100 Women in Hedge Funds for the past four years and continue to be amazed by all that we have achieved together. I particularly want to thank our Vice Chair, Mindy Posoff, and outgoing London Chair Effie Datson, along with our Global Association and London Board members, the Executive Director and all of our global volunteers for their dedication to the organization. Ten years after our founding, our scope has expanded beyond anything I could have imagined and I am delighted to turn over the reins of the Global Board to Mimi Drake, who I know will do a terrific job of leading the organization."
Mimi is President of Permit Capital Advisors, an independent investment advisory firm based in suburban Philadelphia. For six years prior, she served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Defiance Asset Management, LLC, where she was responsible for several areas and served on the risk management committee. Mimi started her career at Miller Anderson & Sherrerd, which merged with Morgan Stanley in 1996. Mimi received her M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. in Economics from Trinity College (cum laude).
On assuming the role of Chair, Mimi Drake commented, "I have been inspired by the decade of leadership that I have observed amongst my peers. I look forward to working with the Board and our affiliates around the world to position the organization for our next ten years and beyond."
Kristen Eshak Weldon, incoming London Board Chair, said "Through serving both as London Board Chair and a member of our Global Board, I believe I can help 100 Women in Hedge Funds continue to coordinate its global effort and am looking forward to working Mimi and the rest of the organization to meet our goals."
