Brave the Cold with West End Knitwear from County Kildare! C1949 Crew Neck Sweater – 100% Pure Merino Wool Highly Recommended by Whom You Know

On the model in Ireland

No one needs to tell Peachy Deegan to get excited for St. Patrick's Day-if you are an avid reader you know we have a countdown 365 days a year for this landmark holiday-and this year this is what Peachy Deegan is wearing, in charcoal!  This Traditional Irish crew neck sweater is one of Aran Crafts greatest sellers. It follows all the Traditional Irish Aran stitching patterns that have been passed down from generation to generation, which in olden days told stories of families and life in Ireland. Along the centre panel of the body the honeycomb Aran stitch flows, signifying the hard working bee or the hard work of a fisherman. On either side of this centre panelling there are rows of Irish cable Aran stitches resembling the fishermans ropes, the link to life. This jumper tells a story through Irish knitting. This jumper is available in extra small and plus sizes, and can be worn by men and women.   It boasts total quality from our 2nd most favorite country on earth (although on March 17th it is our most favorite...) and is truly authentic.  You really need it in every color, and we highly recommend it.  There is nothing not to love about this sweater it is our favorite out of what we've seen by this brand so far.

Colours Available: Denim, Green, Natural, Oatmeal & Charcoal.
Sizes Available: Extra Small to XX-Large

The Story of West End Knitwear

The village of Monasterevin in the county of Kildare is the home of West End Knitwear. The company was originally established by Molly Cullen in 1957. Molly’s dream was to incorporate a family knitting business whose heritage stretched back for over 100 years. Molly is the granddaughter of Kate O’Shea, who, in 1856, was the first craftswoman in Ireland to commercially market her robust, hand knitted woolens. Molly’s sons John and Paul along with her grandson Niall are the present owners of the company. All involved are naturally proud of the long knitting tradition in the Cullen family.

That’s the story of how West End Knitwear began. Today, it is the biggest knitwear manufacturer in Ireland with a young, energetic workforce. West End Knitwear is conscious of its roots in the past; however, the company has its eyes firmly focused on the future. From its situation in the west end of Europe it takes pride in being the first company to manufacture garments which were originally designed for those engaged in a rugged, outdoor life. Some of these garments have been adapted for modern worldwide markets and are worn by men and women with pride and pleasure. All our Aran Crafts garments are knitted using the highest quality merino wool, pure new wool and natural fibers.
