Champagne Wishes: King's Ginger Liqueur Highly Recommended by Whom You Know! King’s Ginger Launches in U.S. Market Ginger Liqueur with a Royal Pedigree Comes Stateside
Having never heard of King's Ginger Liqueur, I was anxious to try it. Not really knowing what to do with it I decided to first do a little research. It was created for King Edward VII as a warming drink before his morning carriage rides prescribed by his doctor. Love the idea that this liqueur is medicinal. So I decided to try it two totally different ways. First I would drink it neat. Honey colored in tone and sweet and syrupy at first taste. Then boing! That spicy ginger hit my palette and exploded. Tantalizing. Second way was to pour it over vanilla ice cream. This was by far one of the best and most unexpected treats ever. Want to surprise your guests at a dinner party? Take breyers vanilla bean ice cream and generously pour King's Ginger Liqueur over it. Add a wafer cookie and voila. Instant praise. Believe me everyone will be copying you on this one.
This delicious drink from England has been made for over 100 years: it was created as a special drink for King Edward the Eighth in 1903. Popular since then with the upper crust of English society, it is now looking to broaden it's appeal to all types. It has a rich flavorsome taste. It can be enjoyed with champagne, tonic, or indeed a variety of fine products. This beverage is manufactured by Berry Brothers & Rudd Spirits in London. It has been a family-run business since 1698. The current owners are the eighth generation of spirit merchants. It is a high-strength liqueur containing lemon peel as well as ginger root, giving it a zesty distinctive taste. The bottle is also very stately, perfect for afters at any dinner gathering.
I am a huge fan of ginger. I love ginger with my sushi, I love ginger in my tea, and I even love ginger ale! I have never tried ginger liqueur before, however, until I tried The King's Ginger. Have I been missing out! This excellent liqueur can be enjoyed all on its own, or it can be used in a number of delicious cocktail recipes. The ginger flavor is potent, but a hint of citrus keeps the flavor in balance. I love pouring myself a small glass to sip on while I unwind from a stressful day. Its especially nice to warm you up on a cold winter evening! I'd also suggest mixing it with tonic water, or better yet, with some champagne! That makes for a very nice treat. If you have not tried The King's Ginger, don't wasting anymore time! Go out and grab a bottle!
Ahhhhh King's Ginger. Delicious. Perfect. Those were my initial reactions to trying the King's Ginger Liqueur. Think royal family when sampling this wonderful post dinner drink. King's Ginger is produced by macerating root ginger into alcohol. This then adding lemon oil and sugar. For a liqueur its high strength in alcohol at 41%. King's Ginger is a perfect after dinner drink for any occasion. Cheers to delicious dinner getting topped off with a cup of tea and King's GInger Liqueur!

The King’s Ginger, an award-winning ginger liqueur developed in 1903 for a British king, announced today their launch in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Specifically formulated by Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirits Ltd for King Edward VII, this rich and zesty tonic was created to “stimulate and revivify” His Majesty and has been appreciated by bon viveurs, sporting gentlemen and high-spirited ladies ever since.
King Edward VII was a sociable man who enjoyed the high life; his pleasurable pursuits were many and varied, but chief among them was driving his “horseless carriage,” a Daimler. Concerned about Edward’s health while exposed to the elements in his new automobile, his physician commissioned Berry Bros. wine and spirits merchants to formulate a liqueur, which would warm His Majesty. The result: a rich, golden liqueur with a pronounced spicy ginger flavor.
At 41% ABV, The King’s Ginger is a high-strength liqueur created through the careful maceration of ginger root and lemon peel. Originally intended as a warming and heartening tonic on a cold day, The King’s Ginger is a splendidly tipple to be enjoyed on its own all year round. It finds delightful application in any number of cocktails and long drink, and was described by Jonathan Ray in The Field as “opulently and sublimely gingery.”
