GLM’S Allison Rober Promoted to Sales Manager of New Artisan Resource Tradeshow
GLM has announced the promotion of Allison Rober to the position of sales manager for Artisan Resource™, a new semi-annual tradeshow in New York City offering U.S.-based importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers the opportunity to meet with international artisan enterprises.
As sales manager, Rober will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies for the new show, which will debut in August 2012 and run concurrently with the New York International Gift Fair® (NYIGF®). She reports to Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF show manager.
Rober, an eight-year GLM veteran, has served as sales representative for two GLM events, The Gourmet Housewares Show® at NYIGF and NYIGF’s Tabletop & Housewaresdivision, and as show coordinator for NYIGF’s General Gift division. She earned a Master of Tourism Administration from the George Washington University School of Business inWashington, DC, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University in New York.
“Allison has the experience and education needed in this position,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. “Her previous positions at GLM have given her exposure to shows-within-shows and international groups, both of which are essential components of Artisan Resource.”
Artisan Resource at the NYIGF will offer a production-sourcing venue for overseas artisan enterprises to showcase their products and production capabilities – at export terms – from their country of origin. The event will be managed by GLM and organized with the assistance of ByHand Consulting, which specializes in helping artisan enterprises reach new export markets through expertise in product design, marketing and training.
GLM creates face-to-face and online buying, selling and networking platforms for designers, product developers, manufacturers, reps, retailers and operators through tradeshow and event production, online community development and association management.
