READ THIS: Shelter Puppies by Michael Kloth

Absolutely adorable, every canine depicted in this brilliant coffee table book published by Merrell will win your heart.  Whether or not you personally have a dog, you will appreciate the message that Michael Kloth is sending which is-if you are considering getting a dog, first visit a shelter.  We at Whom You Know do not ascribe to the purebred philosophy in the dog-sense-Peachy's favorite dog of all-time - owned by her grandparents- was a mixed breed.

Kloth also talks about good ideas of being a dog owner like installing a microchip in your dog in case he/she ever gets lost.  Once you pass the introduction though, this book is all about fantastic photography which is a signature of the Merrell style.  The anecdotes of some of the pets will break your heart, but knowing that they did find a home in the end is the best part.  We particularly liked Snoopy, Spike Lee, and the F-puppies.  You'll find some interesting facts ad the end of the books as well.

Whom You Know Recommends Shelter Puppies.

What could tug at the heartstrings more than a puppy looking for a home? Whether he’s exploring eagerly with his littermates or winning you over with his doleful stare, a puppy is quite irresistible. Dog ownership is a responsibility not to be taken lightly, however, and every year growing numbers of newborn or abandoned puppies enter shelters. In this delightful new book, photographer Michael Kloth captures the canine spirit at its floppy-eared, tail-wagging best with over 60 endearing portraits of shelter puppies. From chihuahuas and poodles to pit bulls and Labradors, and all kinds of mixes in-between, the puppies enchant with their curiosity, playfulness and all-round lust for life. By documenting the unique characters and stories of some of the puppies he has encountered in his volunteer work, Kloth raises awareness of animal rescue causes, and especially the need for more adoptive homes.
