Right from the cover, you know this is a book you absolutely must read.  As you see from above, the flowing vision of sheer beauty in a peachy hue entrances the reader from the start.  And just as stunning is the kelly green dress on the back-Peachy's personal favorite color.  And that too made us huge enthusiasts of what they did with 2006...we're not going to tell you everything: you've got to get the book!  Everyone with any aesthetic inclination will be riveted by the star photography which brilliantly chronicles the last ten years of style, up to today.  Starting in 2001 and ending in 2011, this also makes an excellent gift!  We really cannot say enough about the photography: words will not do it justice.  It is not only about the clothes and the fashion: it is about the whole vision and atmosphere captured and created by the skilled photographers who see that beauty extends to architecture, the right light, and ideal props to tell a story in a single second.

September 12, 2001 marked the debut of Glenda Bailey at Bazaar, and she has not disappointed us.  Everyone knows that this iconic institution has been around since 1867, and we surmise it will be around many more decades, so we look forward to those forthcoming books as well by publishing giant Abrams!

Here is what we found remarkable about this book:
*Ray of Light - Erin Wasson in Chanel.  Just ethereal.
*Atelier Attitude with Valentino Garavani-this shot is architecturally inclined as well!  We also adore him with his pugs in a later shot
*Ali McGraw's Vreeland experience http://www.whomyouknow.com/2011/11/read-this-diana-vreeland-eye-has-to.html -and that Diana Vreeland work was another in the Abrams hit parade...
*Pages 110-111 with Victoria Beckham and Natalie Portman in black "Stealing French Style" written by Rita Wilson (ooh Peachy actually saw Rita last night on 5th Avenue when she was en route to the dinner review!)
*Gates of Paradise
*Chic You Can Believe in Julianne Moore in a one-shoulder Armani Prive
*Emma Watson in Alexander McQueen
*Page 210 Naomi Campbell looks like she wants to join our pals The Swamp Brothers from the New York Boat Show

This book not only celebrates the past decade of Harper's Bazaar, but also in doing so it honors its past tradition of excellence in fashion.  Whom You Know Highly Recommends Harper's Bazaar: Greatest Hits a Decade of Style!  We know it will be a hit with you, too!

HARPER’S BAZAAR: GREATEST HITS
A DECADE OF STYLE
Elegant Art Book Highlights Ten Years of the Legendary Magazine’s
Iconic Fashion, Art Direction, and Award-Winning Photography
By Glenda Bailey, Foreword by Stephen Gan

For nearly 150 years, Harper’s Bazaar has been the style resource for women who are the first to buy the best, from casual to couture. With authority, insight, and imagination, Harper’s Bazaar showcases the work of world-class designers and photographers and the most talked-about pop cultural, political, and celebrity icons of the day.

Harper’s Bazaar: Greatest Hits, a lush art book (Abrams; September 2011; U.S. $65.00/Can. $75.00; ISBN: 978-1-4197-0070-5) highlights the inspiring and entertaining vision of editor in chief Glenda Bailey and creative director Stephen Gan, who, over the past 10 years, have honed a unique point of view for the legendary magazine: aspirational, yet not out of reach; witty while still reverent; sophisticated, without taking itself too seriously. Most of all, Bailey and Gan have filled Harper’s Bazaar with breathtaking images from the most passionate photographers of the day, staying true to and building on the magazine’s artistic tradition.

“Fashion reflects what’s going on in our world, and Bazaar makes pop culture fashionable,” says Bailey. “I think of my job as hosting a can’t-miss party where everyone’s invited. Bazaar puts the fun back in fashion and serves it up with a healthy dash of humor, and I am so fortunate to work with the greatest photographers, creative talents, models and celebrities, who turn inspiration into unforgettable images.”

Harper’s Bazaar: Greatest Hits chronicles some of the magazine’s most memorable moments from 2001 to 2011, through a collection of more than 300 powerful images: Agyness Deyn pays tribute to Michael Jackson, shot by Terry Richardson; Marc Jacobs, Donatella Versace, and Alber Elbaz join Marge Simpson in Paris on an illustrated trip to Couture; Karl Lagerfeld photographs Courtney Love, wearing next to nothing and doing penance for sporting fake Chanel; Sarah Jessica Parker channels Diana Vreeland for Peter Lindbergh.
The book also highlights Bazaar’s signature film-meets-fashion portfolios, which pay homage to directors including David Lynch, Pedro Almodovar, and Mike Nichols, casting fashion designers, socialites, and celebrities in scenes from their landmark films. A celebration of fashion, a romp through a riotous and eventful decade, and a banquet of contemporary imagery, Harper’s Bazaar: Greatest Hits is also a glamorous object in itself, spotlighting:
A Decade of Legendary Photographers: including Patrick Demarchelier, Jean-Paul Goude, Peter Lindbergh, William Klein, David Sims, Mario Sorrenti, Terry Richardson, and Hiro.
· A Decade of Fashion Designers: Tom Ford, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen, Miuccia Prada, Diane Von Furstenberg, and more.
· A Decade of Celebrities: from Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Gwyneth Paltrow to Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Tyra Banks, and Ellen DeGeneres.
· A Decade of Models: from the originals, like Iman, and Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Stephanie Seymour—to the new century’s biggest stars, including Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, and Agyness Deyn.
· A Decade of Stellar Writers: journalists including Cathy Horyn and Suzy Menkes, celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Rita Wilson, and authors such as Candace Bushnell and Carrie Fisher have entertained Harper’s Bazaar’s readers over the past decade with their insights on everything from First Lady fashion to the perils of the digital age.
