Redken Creative Consultant Guido created two very elegant yet distinct hairstyles for the beautiful Bottega Veneta and Jil Sander Fall 2012 shows in Milan yesterday. A sleek wrapped updo style for the Bottega Veneta show added Gatsby glamour to the overall look while a “couture” ponytail for Raf Simons’ last Jil Sander show appropriately fit the ladylike, ultra-refined collection.
BOTTEGA VENETA
“At Bottega Veneta today I’m doing twenties inspired hair with a deep side part, then really gelling the hair and wrapping it around the head in the back. It’s not quite a ballerina look, but a little bit twenties, referencing a cloche or a 20’s inspired hat.”
–Guido, Redken Creative Consultant
Redken Products:
-hardwear 16 super-strength gel
Create a deep left side part.
Apply a generous amount of hardwear 16 gel to dry hair and comb through with a fine-toothed comb until hair is completely saturated.
Section hair into two parts, a top and and bottom section, in the back (or three or four parts if hair is thick).
Take top section and comb up and around flat against the head, making sure it’s very clean and neat-looking.
Keep the same process with the other sections and hold in place with open fasteners
Apply forceful 23 hairspray to entire style and blow-dry hair to set the look.
Place a black clip in hair to secure style, removing open fasteners.

JIL SANDER
“We’re keeping the mid-century vibe that Raf’s been doing for the past couple of seasons but styling it in a much simpler way today. It’s just a ponytail but the trick to this one is that the part is very short and the style also covers the ears so it gives you that nod to the mid-century period of modesty- a woman not showing her age. Instantly the ponytail is not sporty but very elegant. This is the most couture ponytail in a way, exuding a real feeling of womanliness.”
–Guido, Redken Creative Consultant
Redken Products:
Apply satinwear 02 to damp hair and blow-dry straight.
Create a left side part that goes only halfway back and pull hair towards the back
Pull hair into a very low ponytail so that the hair covers the ears (leaving the earlobes showing) and secure with an elastic.
Finish with forceful 23 hairspray to give the look a lacquer finish and lock in the shape.
