Sally Papedis is the face behind Stella Grey. She is a native San Diegan that moved to Chicago in 2002. Today she reside with her family in Chicago and loves big city living. “The energy, the pace, the fashion pulse and the people make Chicago a great city and I especially love the prominent seasons, which I never experienced before living in San Diego.”
Sally has a degree in Fashion Design and Apparel Manufacturing. During Design School, Sally was a bit of a rebel and went by the name of Stella for almost 5 years. “Even today, I have friends that still know me by Stella.” So when she founded the company in 2010, there was really only one name she would consider for the bag line. Sally has an eye for detail, a hip fashion sense, a rebellious nature (especially when people tell her “no”) and a loyalty to having the bags made in Chicago to support local businesses.
Vegan Leather fabric is the inspiration of Stella Grey. Vegan Leather means no harm to animals in the making of the fabric. For a Vegan Leather to be considered for a Stella Grey Bag three elements must be present: 1.) quality, only high end faux leather is used that retains the look of real leather or exotic animal skin, 2.) washablity, the fabric needs to be durable and waterproof so it can be easily cleaned and if the bag accidently set on a wet bathroom counter the bag won’t be harmed, 3.) texture, the fabric must be multi textured in appearance and feel so you can find your Stella Grey in the bottom of your purse by touch alone.
