Howard Sloan Legal Search Calls for Auditions for America’s Funniest Attorney with Contestants to Debut at Gotham Comedy Club on May 3rd 2012

Howard-Sloan, a top recruiting firm specializing in the placement of compliance, legal, financial and IT professionals, hosted a comedy event called America’s Funniest Compliance Professional last spring that generated coverage on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. According to the Journals coverage, more than 250 people attended the rollicking event, raising thousands of dollars for JDRF. (link to WSJ article)

On May 3, at 7:30 PM, Howard Sloan Legal Search will host a similar event, mining laughs from another unlikely group at Gotham Comedy Club: “In search of America’s Funniest Attorney.” Dozens of aspiring comics have submitted videos by way of auditioning to be included, including some hilarious ones. So, the company today has extended its call for aspiring attorney comics to audition for the show.

Applicants should send an email or a link to a short video bit to funniest@howardsloan.com. The deadline for audition requests has been extended to March 6, and those who are accepted to participate on stage will be notified by March 16. Then, on May 3 at 7:30, funny lawyers and hundreds of other people from around the country will descend on Manhattan to entertain themselves, their colleagues, and judges, including a surprise celebrity comedian.

“We are hosting a fun event to give attorneys the opportunity to show another side of themselves,” said Lindsey Tilden, Senior Director of Business Development at Howard-Sloan Legal Search. “Anyone who attended our event last spring knows how much fun this will be. People told me for weeks that when they left, they were sore from laughing so hard.”

Attorneys from around the country will perform stand-up comedy in hopes of winning the title of “America’s Funniest Attorney” and the smiling admiration of hundreds of their colleagues.

100% of the night’s proceeds will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) JDRF, the world’s leading charity for juvenile diabetes, advocates finding a cure for diabetes through the promotion of research. Tilden’s stepdaughter is one of approximately 3 million Americans who have been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes.

“We expect this to be even more successful than our ‘America’s Funniest Compliance Professional’ event last spring,” said Tilden. We’re gathering some of the most serious people on the planet and encouraging every one of them to laugh together at themselves and one another. People who attend should prepare to laugh really hard as they help raise needed funds on behalf of a worthy and important cause.”
