Redken Creative Consultant Guido took the hair at the very rich, luxurious Sonia Rykiel and Lanvin Fall 2012 shows in two different directions on Friday in Paris. At Sonia Rykiel, he noted that while the clothes were “super rich, super bourgeois, and in very good taste,” the girl who inspired the look had a bit of a punky edge with her black headband (worn by all the models in the show). This “other side” of her was shown with Guido’s wet punky look. At Lanvin on the other hand, he wanted the hair to take a backseat to the glamorous, vibrant clothing, and created a natural simple look that would complement the collection.

“Even though the Sonia girl is wearing super-rich clothes today, the bandeau she’s wearing over their ears means there’s something very punky about her. So I wanted to do that ratty, wet, stringy, crunchy kind of hair. I actually envisioned what happens when you put too much product in and it starts to dry- the texture is this very product-y, spaghetti stringy hair.”

Redken Products:
On damp hair, create a center part and spray guts 10 spray foam all over the hair until thoroughly saturated.
Let hair air-dry for natural texture.
Place headband just above the eyebrows and over the ears.
Ensure the hair is not too heavy and thick in the back, tucking some up inside the headband if needed.
Finish the look with forceful 23 hairspray, concentrating on the ends to really make it even more “stringy”.

Rough blow-dry hair using fingers until 80% dry.
Finish blow-drying hair by smoothing it with a boar bristle brush.
