Domaine Houchart Cotes du Provence Rose Highly Recommended by Whom You Know! Absolutely Perfect for the Summer in Manhattan Happening Today!

Summer is here today, quite early! But we are ready with a smashing rose, available from David Milligan Selections. This 2011 Domaine Houchart from Provence, France has a ripe clarity that will delight you and heighten your senses of the season upon us. You know we have been on a tremendous French kick starting with the soiree we met Jacques Pepin at....

This may be a lighter wine but it boasts a deep combination of notes that tasted like everything from fresh Berries to Plums to Pears (and Peachy will not comment on the scent as she has horrid allergies and cannot smell much with the pollen count now!). Though it is fruity it is also polished and has a sophisticated taste. Sporting a blush hue, it has an embellished look that tastes slightly acidic. The presentation is obviously gorgeous, as you can see.

We love how there is a tiny map of France on the back! Domaine Houchart has a wonderful Salmon color which highlights the aroma and palate which are bursting with flavors of red berries, strawberries. Hints of citrus and a very lively mouth feel.

Domaine Houchart is located at the foot of Mount St Victoire near Aix en Provence. This region is part of the new, higher level, appellation" Cotes de Provence, St Victoire". Domaine Houchart is today owned by Geneviève, the wife of Jérôme Quiot, having been originally acquired by her great-grandfather. During the period of the 1850's, Aurelien Houchart was an energetic proprietor and negociant in wine, and created one of the largest domains in Provence. Amongst the friends of Aurelien Houchart was the famous painter Cezanne, who frequently came to visit. The 200 acre estate is planted with 10 traditional grape varieties on soils of red clay, sandstone, gravel and chalk and produces 55% Rose, 40 % Red and 5% White wines
