MAYOR BLOOMBERG AND OTTAWA MAYOR WATSON MAKE FRIENDLY WAGER ON RANGERS-SENATORS PLAYOFF SERIES Winning City Will Receive Local Delicacy & Social Media Accolades
You know we are extraordinary excited for the Most Wonderful Time of the Year:
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Ottawa Mayor James A. Watson today announced a friendly wager on the first round series of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Rangers and the Senators. The opening puck drop for Game 1 takes place tonight at 7:00 PM at Madison Square Garden.
If the Rangers win the series, Mayor Watson will send a BeaverTail, the iconic Ottawa pastry. In addition, the City will send a tweet from its official Twitter account, @OttawaCity, congratulating the Rangers for their victory and a #FollowFriday tweet encouraging users to follow the winning City’s Twitter account, @NYCMayorsOffice.
If the Senators win the series, Mayor Bloomberg will send – to commemorate the Rangers iconic blue home jerseys – blueberry cheesecake from Court Pastry Shop in Brooklyn. In addition, the City will send a tweet from its official Twitter account, @NYCMayorsOffice, congratulating the Senators for their victory and a #FollowFriday tweet encouraging users to follow the winning City’s Twitter account, @OttawaCity.
“With the New York Giants Super Bowl victory still on our minds, I know New Yorkers are excited for another champion run by our Blueshirts – and I thank Mayor Watson for joining me on this friendly wager,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “The beaver has been an indelible part of our City’s official seal for hundreds of years, and we are looking forward to not only winning the BeaverTail pastry, but also gaining some new Canadian Twitter followers.”
“I’m excited about this bet and thank Mayor Bloomberg for taking part in it with me,” said Mayor Watson. “Our Senators have proven themselves to be underdogs who can win, and I – along with the entire Sens Army – firmly believe they can go all the way to the Stanley Cup. Of course, it’s also nice to know that when we do win round one, the icing on the cake will be blue.”
