READ THIS: The Dunderheads Behind Bars By Paul Fleischman

I had never heard of The Dunderheads Book before and am so glad now I know them. Reading the sequel to the first Dunderheads book “the Dunderheads Behind Bars” was a treat. Definitely for children a bit older than mine. Say 9 or so. Children will love the witty plot and way the characters team up to take on the difficult challenges they face. Using their individual skills which are remarkable in the sense how crazy they are. Team this up with the illustrating by David Roberts and you have a real winner. So game on Dunderheads!

My son loves playing jail. Sometimes I even get arrested and put in "super jail!" So, it didn't surprise me that he was immediately drawn to the cover artwork of the book, "The Dunderheads Behind Bars." The recommended age level for this book is 8 and up. Although my son is much younger than 8, he enjoyed the book. I edited parts of it to make it more suitable for his age, but he really enjoyed the artwork and the basic story. In this book the Dunderheads are on summer vacation and are happy to be free of their teacher, Miss Breakbone. Or so they thought. As it turns out, they do not have a Miss Breakbone-free summer at all! This silly, fun read by award winning author, Paul Fleischman will be enjoyed by children and parents alike!

After reading The Dunderheads to my class, we couldn't wait to read The Dunderheads Behind Bars. I had to wait to read this book the following day and the moans and groans I got from my students, you would've thought I had taken away their computer time. When I did pick it up to read the next day, I had cheers before the book had started and again after I had finished reading. Their favorite characters were back for another adventure and loved every minute of it. When The Dunderheads were taken off to jail for trying to help, I heard collective groans and shouts of it being unfair. When they were released, collective cheers rang throughout the room. This is a wonderful followup to the original book and we can't wait for more Dunderhead books. We want to see what other adventures they get into.

The Dunderheads behind bars is a great book for those older readers. It has really unique illustrations. I really love how all the characters have such unique looks. The story is great of all these children coming together and solving problems together. The book has a great story of working together and being honest. It is a great book to have in any child's library. It is also great to give as a gift. It's also a fun book for adults!

Everyone's favorite underdogs are back! Can they land work on a movie set - and foil a cat burglar - with their unusual and motley skills?

School is out for the summer, and the Dunderheads are finally rid of the awful Miss Breakbone. Or so they thought! Teen star Ashley Throbb-Hart is shooting a movie nearby, and who should show up as an extra but their formidable former teacher! She's not the only Breakbone on the scene, either; after a string of burglaries strikes town, Miss Breakbone steers her barrel-chested brother, Police Chief Breakbone, toward those meddling, good-for-nothing Dunderheads. And when Spider ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time, the blowhard chief has all the evidence he needs to lock him up. Can Einstein, Wheels, Nails, Spitball, Google-Eyes, Clips, Junkyard, Pencil, and Hollywood combine their talents to catch the real criminal before they join their friend behind bars? Newbery Medalist Paul Fleischman and illustrator David Roberts reunite for a delightfully triumphant sequel to The Dunderheads.
