READ THIS: A Visitor for Bear By Bonny Becker
A Visitor For Bear is a great tale of a Bear who just wants some peace and quiet. A sign adorns his door telling the world that he does not want any visitors. But a little mouse has a different idea for Bear. No matter where bear turns the mouse seems to be there. No matter how many times he screams at him to leave, that mouse stays the course. Maybe a bit of tea? Or maybe a little cheese? This mouse never gives up. Realizing that they quite enjoy each other's company the two unlikely pair become friends.
"A Visitor for Bear" by Bonny Becker is a really fun read! My four and a half year old loved the humor (as did I)! It is the story of Bear and Mouse. Bear has a sign on his front door, "NO visitors allowed." Despite his sign, Mouse keeps popping up everywhere in his house (in the fridge, in the tea kettle, etc.) My son was literally cracking up with each consecutive place Mouse popped up. By the end of the story, Bear does not want Mouse to leave. He tells Mouse that his sign was meant for salesmen, not friends. And so, Mouse and Bear become dear friends. It is easy to see why this endearing story of friendship received awards and accolades! I truly love reading this book with my son!
Have you ever felt like leaving a sign that says "No Visitors Allowed"? That's exactly how Bear feels in the beginning this book. By the end, Bear realizes it's nice to have a friend around. Many of my students could really connect with this book. After I read it out loud, I had many of my students ask if they could borrow it to read it themselves. They were even able to make connections with Bear because they have felt like him before--not wanting visitors at first, but then realizing it's nice to have company. It even helped my students create their own stories similar to Bear's. I love when literature can spark a love of learning in my students. Every classroom and home library should have this book!
A Visitor For Bear is such a cute book! I really love reading this book as much as my daughter does. Even my husband loves listening to this story. The illustrations compliment the story. Oh and I better not forget the cute humor that is not only funny for the the little ones but great for us adults too! This is a must have book for your libraries. It is also a great book for gifting. Enjoy this book with your child today!

Cheery persistence wears down a curmudgeonly bear in a wry comedy of manners that ends in a most unlikely friendship.
Bear is quite sure he doesn’t like visitors. He even has a sign. So when a mouse taps on his door one day, Bear tells him to leave. But when Bear goes to the cupboard to get a bowl, there is the mouse -- small and gray and bright-eyed. In this slapstick tale that begs to be read aloud, all Bear wants is to eat his breakfast in peace, but the mouse -- who keeps popping up in the most unexpected places -- just won’t go away!
