NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY CELEBRATES THE JULY 4 HOLIDAY WITH GAMES, REVOLUTIONARY WAR RE-ENACTORS, & FREE ADMISSION FOR YOUTHS
Celebrate the nation’s birthday at the New-York Historical Society and DiMenna Children’s History Museum, with free admission for visitors 18 and under!
On Wednesday, July 4, history comes alive for the entire family! Do you want to know what life was like in 1776? Speak with Benjamin Franklin firsthand about his experiments with lightning and electricity, his inventions, his involvement with Congress in drafting the Declaration of Independence, and more! Learn what life was like for soldiers during the battles of the American Revolution from members of the 2nd New York Provincial Battalion. Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk and balladeer Rich Bala will talk about the pivotal role the Hudson River played in the War for Independence in the eighteenth century.
Enjoy fun-filled arts and crafts activities including:
A Presidential Scavenger Hunt, for ages 4 and up. Free with Museum Admission, with prizes for participation. And everyone can enter our Liberty the Dog raffle!
Fireworks Painting. Learn about fireworks and the Fourth of July. All ages. Free with Museum Admission.
New-York Historical is offering free admission on July 4 to those 18 and under.
For visitors 21 and older, Empire Brewing Company will be hosting half-hour beer tastings at 2pm and 4pm in the beer hall of Beer Here: Brewing New York’s History. Held by president David Katleski and Assistant Brewer Olivia Cerio, the tasting will feature a selection of the brewery’s beer and a discussion on the process of making and selling beer. Tickets are $35 (members $20)
