READ THIS: C a r c h i te c t u r e: Frames, Fenders, and Fins by Fredric Winkowski and Frank D. Sullivan
If you really know Peachy, you know she has spent a lot of time in her life at car shows, particularly at her favorite track, Lime Rock Park. (Read all about our pal Rick...) And, you know she loves photography (oooh wait until you hear about the camera Peachy saw last week!) and she loves books. Sooooo, Carchitecture made a lot of sense to review! We love the color combination of the color for starters. A peachy steering wheel! Hard to beat that.
As you go through Carchitecture, you'll see that it is far more than just a pretty cover. The photo essays will simply wow you. If V-8's get you excited and we're not talking juice and you have spent hours with people that appreciate the finer details of the proper grill, fender, hubcaps, white wall tires etc etc etc especially when they are judging (Peachy is not a car judge but she knows people who are!) the photography will be even more stunning and meaningful to you.
From classic originals to hot rods to race cars, Carchitecture has got it all covered, and it's a coffee-table type book that will delight everyone who ever had a love of aesthetics and fast cars! And as far as the photography goes, we think the detail of reflection is one of the strongest points. There's even an index in the back so you can find all of your favorites. Whom You Know highly recommends Carchitecture!

C a r c h i te c t u r e: Frames, Fenders, and Fins is a unique look at the machines that drive our collective obsession with all-things automotive. Featuring over three hundred models of cars and text that reveals key components of the evolution of the industrial "architectural design," C a r c h i te c t u r e is the culmination of twenty years' worth of work documenting the best of the best of the automotive world. This is the first book on the market to look at the individual facets of car design as high art. While many books exist on the collector's value or beauty of the car itself, this lens and commentary is much more specific and makes for much more compelling visuals.
Growing up in the 1950s, authors Fredric Winkowski and Frank D. Sullivan fell in love with automobile culture and cars have continued to be their life passion. Being city kids, they saw the street as art, much more immediate than the paintings hanging in museums. Their expert lenses reveal taillights, grills, wheel wells and fan belts to be works of sculptural genius, and their photographs, making this comprehensive volume every bit as collectible as the cars it celebrates.
