Doing things on time and doing things right is of utmost importance at Whom You Know, and Peachy is always wearing a watch. Winner of national design contest in it. T
he Cadence Watch Company this year has
released the Josh Chadwick Watch, winner of a national design competition and shown above. Conceived by
Philadelphia designer Josh Chadwick, the watch blends the visual elements of an analog watch
with the aesthetics of a digital display. We find this to be a stunning look and a philosophy that makes sense. I
n this modern world, we expect the reliability and exactitude of a digital watch, but yearn
for the familiar visual cues of a classic watch face. Instead of recreating the harsh glow and
cold numerals of a digital alarm clock on your wrist, the Josh Chadwick Watch uses digital
technology to update the timeless design of an analog clock. This is an analog-style watch for
the digital age, and we recommend it.

The Josh Cadwick Watch is the inaugural entry into the Cadence Collective line, which will
feature unique watch concepts by creative designers across the country. "Many designers have
great ideas for watches — not just people working for big-name watch companies" says Vanya
Buvac, CEO of Cadence. We commend this forward type of thinking. "Before Cadence Collective, you had to be a Philip Stark or an Ed
Hardy to have your watch produced."
In 2010, Cadence organized a nationwide contest with the help of Design Philadelphia, an
annual event which spotlights national and regional design and brings together approximately
500 top designers each year. Judges praised Josh Chadwick’s watch concept for its clean, contemporary look and nods to pre-digital watch history. Peachy Deegan was not a judge in this competition but would agree with them.
In his designer statement Chadwick wrote, "I believe the best inspiration for good design is
people. It is important to remember that we design more than just objects, but experiences for
people. We have the ability to create systems and user experiences that can have a profound i
mpact on the world and create genuine emotional responses. It is this mentality that I'd like to
integrate into all of my projects and guide my direction as a designer."
The watch face on Chadwick’s design has a modern digital display but expresses time like a
traditional analog watch, with a 12-hour rotation of indicators: up to twelve solid bars for the
hour marks and up to 60 clearly demarcated marks for the minutes. The body of the watch is
contemporary with a stainless steel case and hair-line finish; the band uses a traditional clasp
mechanism. After a year of engineering and manufacturing the Josh Chadwick Watch is a reality. Order now
