"No More Vegetables" by Debi Brown is a fun, cute read. A children's book for grades 2-5, "No More Vegetables" is a book your kids (and you!) will enjoy reading. Debi Brown's book tells the story of Dusty, a little piglet who was the runt of the pack. The story begins with the birth of the piglets. Dusty, the smallest, is cause for concern for both his mama and Farmer Joe. In an effort to help Dusty gain some weight, he is given buttered rolls. While he watches his siblings eat from the trough, Dusty enjoys rich, buttery rolls. He tries some of the vegetables from the trough, but decides they are horrible and he will stick with his rolls. The tale that follows is the story of Dusty and his life on the farm. After declaring that he will not eat vegetables, Dusty learns from the other farm animals the importance of eating vegetables to stay healthy. Eventually, Dusty eats his vegetables and even enjoys them! Winner of an honorable mention at the Beach Book Festival in California and showcased in the New Titles at the BEA in New York, "No More Vegetables" is a sweet story about friendship, love and family. Debi Brown has written a really enjoyable story for all ages!

I always hear stories from my friends on the nightmare of a time they have getting their children to eat their vegetables. Even going to the extreme as pureeing them into brownie mix just to trick them into eating some. Luckily, my children are very good about eating vegetables. But that does not keep them from enjoying “No More Vegetables”. They loved the silly and clever rhymes that Ruthie, her doctor and parents make-up when dealing with the No More Vegetable situations. I just hope they do not start repeating and learning bad habits from Miss Ruthie. Combined with the great graphics and bright colors, this book is perfect for entertaining children and adults. Maybe even President Bush Sr. should read this book since he just hates broccoli so much. My line as a child was if the President of the United States does not like Broccoli then why should I?

No More Vegetables is such an awesome book for kids. I love that it's well-written and just so cute! As an adult I find it to be a really great read. Its a great book for those kids getting into the reading process. It has such a cute little story with a lot of adventure and fun. All of the characters in the book have so much personality - especially Dusty! This book teaches children about eating healthy and about friendship. I truly enjoyed this book and so will you!

When I picked up this book and started to read, I immediately was pulled into the story. In the way this story started, I couldn't help but remember one of my favorite childhood stories. What I love about this story is what we can learn from Dusty the Pig. In the beginning, we find out he is the smallest in the litter and is given his own bowl of slop and rolls to help him grow big like his Pa. Because of this, he ends up liking the rolls and won't eat the vegetables because he didn't like the way turnips tasted. His brothers and sisters end up making fun of him and he stands up for himself. Without giving anymore of this wonderful story away, we learn more about Dusty and grow to love him even more. I can't wait to read the next Dusty the Pig adventure.
