If only American programming were as good as it is in the UK and Ireland, which has such intelligent shows across the boards, and commercials that address a higher level as well. No need to fret, because BBC America is here! And if you miss it on the telly (that is what they across the pond call the box you watch), you can buy it on video and that's precisely what we've been up to. Peachy Deegan is always running around Manhattan so she cannot watch shows on the times that they actually air, and a season such as Season 2 of Sherlock is not to be missed! We really like the opening sequence and the theme song-there is no cheesy here.
Sherlock is part of the Masterpiece Mystery series, and you already know we love, love, love Masterpiece. Downton Abbey, which we also raved about, is Masterpiece as well but over in America it is PBS. We think there is room for all kinds of great UK programming over here. You'll catch onto the language slang differences - but just so you know, TA means thank you. Mycroft gets slugged but do not confuse that with snogged or shagged.
This 3-part series kicks off with A Scandal in Belgravia, which is completely tantalizing. Sherlock will amaze you with his calculating mind - and you literally can see him thinking- and naturally we applaud that he is an internet phenomenon as well. The imagery in this episode is strong with red nails and other quintessential items for a dominatrix, which they do pull off in a classy way. You'll even see a visit to Buckingham Palace-and given the recent events of a Prince in Las Vegas, Harry: you should watch this-you're not the only one to be caught in a compromising position!
Hounds of the Baskervilles is the second episode, while The Reichenbach Fall is the third. Each is 90 minutes that will fly by, and don't look away for a millisecond, or you will be bound to miss something crucial. The Hound reminded us a bit of the Loch Ness Monster which our friend Andy Crichton from the Mull of Kintyre (he really is from there he went to school with Peachy in Cork) told us stories about. We were thrilled to see the jewels in the 3rd episode of course from the Tower, which we sadly say trumps Tiffany's in a big way; all would agree.
One thing we love about Sherlock is his immediate deduction ability. He might seem cold and distant at first, but you'll warm up to him. Also he's quite the violinist during the holidays. His eccentricity will charm you and his intelligence will make you want to keep up. Thumbs up to your collar up.
Another thing we love about the Sherlock character is his ability to execute long, level, logical stream-of-consciousness sentences which is a rare phenomenon to get right. Peachy herself loves to talk in long sentences. Sherlock's matter-of-fact-ness is also admirable. We cannot wait to see what happens in Season 3! This Sherlock is modern with many twists and we're not talking Oliver. Oooh and did we mention that they are obsessed with their website and we love it.

Our esteemed panel adds:
If you haven't started watching "Sherlock," you don't know what you're missing! The second season of this show exceeds the pleasure and promise of the Emmy nominated first season with feature length mysteries that really put Holmes to the test! Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson are back in three new stories for season two! "A Scandal in Belgravia" picks up where season one left off, which is a cliffhanger involving Watson strapped onto an explosives vest and a standoff between Holmes and criminal James Moriarty. This series really sucks you in and has you rooting for Holmes and Watson from the bat! The middle mystery is perhaps one of Holmes' best known. "The Hounds of Baskerville" is a psychological thriller that keeps you at the edge of your seat! It investigates strange activities on a military base and it tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome hound. It is so exciting to watch! The deadly mind games escalate for Holmes and Moriarty in the third episode, "The Reichenbach Fall." This episode follows Moriarty's plot to discredit and kill Holmes. Moriarty actually pushes Holmes to the brink of defeat in this riveting episode 1. This is one of the first series that I have seen from BBC and it did not disappoint! The acting is superb and costumes are incredibly well done! This is a great new, fresh invention of Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century and should not be missed!
"Sherlock" Season 2 is part of the BBC Masterpiece series. Containing all three episodes from Season 2, this DVD is fantastic. Detective Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) teams up with former army doctor, John Watson (Martin Freeman) to solve a variety of crimes. In the first episode, "A Scandal in Belgravia" (lossely based on Conan Doyle's "A Scandal in Bohemia"), the show picks up where the Season 1 cliffhanger left off. Sherlock finds himself up against the intelligent and lovely Irene Adler (Laura Pulver). Their battle is one of wit and love. In the second episode, "The Hounds of Baskerville" (based on Conan Doyle's "The Hounds of Baskervilles which was originally published in 1902), Sherlock and Watson find themselves tracking a giant hound to Baskerville. There, the military is conducting secret experiments and something supernatural is hanging around. This episode is full of suspense and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The final episode of Season 2 is "The Reichenbach Fall" which was inspired by Conan Doyle's "The Final Problem". In this episode, Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott), a serial criminal, is out to bring Sherlock down...no matter what it takes. "Sherlock" is a British television series which is a contemporary take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, this series has been nominated for many awards including BAFTAs and Emmys. Season 1 was first shown in July and August of 2010 with Season 2 being broadcast in January 2012. A third season is set to begin production in early 2013. I highly suggest getting a hold of Season 1 and Season 2 in anticipation of Season 3 coming up next year! I truly enjoyed "Sherlock" Season 2 and can't wait to see Season 3!
I have always loved reading about Sherlock Holmes when I was little. As I grew up, I watched what ever I could that had to do with him as well. I've heard many good things about BBC series and have never been able to sit down and watch one. I am so glad that "Sherlock" was my first. Withing the first 10 minutes, I was hooked. While there was a bit missing for me, not having seen the first season, it didn't take long for me to catch up. I loved that the show had an updated feel to it. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were perfectly cast as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Mr. Cumberbatch does such a great job at making Sherlock one of those characters you love to hate. When picturing Dr. Watson, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing him but Mr. Freeman. I loved all the extras that came along on the second disc. It helps you get a deeper sense of what you are watching. I can't wait to check out Season 1 so I can watch Season 2 again. Now I'm bummed I have to wait so long for Season 3 to find out what happens next. If you haven't seen this show yet, you are missing out. I highly recommend it!

BBC Home Entertainment is bringing your favorite consulting detective back on May 22, 2012 when Sherlock: Season Two hits the streets on Blu-Ray and DVD. Benedict Cumberbatch (War Horse, the upcoming Star Trek 2) is back as Holmes and Martin Freeman (The Office, the upcoming The Hobbit) returns as Dr. John Watson in three new 90-minute stories from writers and executive producers Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen). Inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic tales of the brilliant crime-solving icon, Sherlock: Season Two is a spectacular blend of the 21st century and the original wit and spirit of the mysteries that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The second season premiered in Canada on February 2, 2012 on BBC Canada, and will launch in the U.S. on May 6, 2012 as part of MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! on PBS.
In A Scandal in Belgravia, the first new episode of the second season, Sherlock gets embroiled in the complex plans of the dangerous and desirable Irene Adler (Lara Pulver, True Blood), and finds himself employing every one of his remarkable skills to survive as the unlikely duo square off in a battle of wits…and perhaps emotions? In The Hounds of Baskerville, the increasingly popular detective and his companion Watson travel to the wilds of Dartmoor to investigate the claims of Henry Knight (Russell Tovey, Being Human) and discover the beast lurking in the eerie landscape. Meanwhile, Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott, The Hour) is still out there in the shadows, and is determined to bring Sherlock down—at whatever the cost—in The Reichenbach Fall. Nothing is what it seems, and nothing will be the same again, when this thrilling season reaches its conclusion.
The first season of Sherlock, now available on DVD, received 4 primetime Emmy® nominations and won a Peabody Award. USA Today called it “…the most unabashedly entertaining new show of the season…” and The New York Times said “The appeal is elementary: good, unpretentious fun, something that’s in short supply around here.”
Bonus features include:
Audio Commentary for episodes A Scandal in Belgravia and The Hounds of Baskerville
Sherlock Uncovered, a behind-the-scenes featurette
