READ THIS: Great American Schooner Yachts by Rudolph Arp Our Coverage Sponsored by Marcony Restaurant

Marcony is one of the premier Italian venues to dine at in Manhattan located at 184 Lexington Avenue between 31st and 32nd streets in the Murray Hill neighborhood. It is multi-level, offering two private dining areas, outdoor seating, and an intimate low-ceiling bar. Their stellar fresh seafood in particular is ideal for dining this summer and everything we have ever eaten at Marcony impresses us immensely. Equally breathtaking is the decor: painted white and blue with dark wood and chrome accents, the space suggests a small yacht cruising around the Isle of Capri, where owner Marco Pipolo hails from. Marcony has been highly recommended by Whom You Know:
and recently it has gained acclaim for its outdoor area, one of the best in Manhattan:
And, it was not lost on Peachy that it has one of the most amazing chandeliers in the city:

Growing up near the water, boats and ships have always fascinated me. Actually, I have a particular interest in schooner yachts. Unfortunately, there has never really been much written about them. That is, until now with the recently published Great American Schooner Yachts, by Rudolph Arp. This book goes into great detail describing both the construction and history of some of the great American schooner yachts. These descriptions are accompanied by gorgeous photos of the yachts and their owners. It even includes intricate plans and drawings of each of the ships. This book would be a perfect gift for anyone who enjoys ships and the history and designs behind them. It is also a great book for the coffee table. It would be a delight for any of your guests who pick it up!

Great American Schooner Yachts is a beautiful book. It is perfect to display and it should be a staple in your home if you love sailing. I grew up in New England and now I live on the coast of Southern California. In both of these places, yachting is a way of life. I know very little about yachts. This book is so informative! The history of the yachts is fascinating, but I particularly like the plans of the yachts. Each yacht is explained clearly. This is a perfect book for anyone who as any interest in yachts. If you have a country house near water, this book belongs on your coffee table. It is worthy of the spot on the table and it is full of information.

As I have learned, American Schooner Yachts have been rarely documented in this country. Schiffer Books has taken this void in the market and produced a beautiful high quality book about them. I love the oversized pages that lend itself to the beautiful photography. Pair this with drawings and construction details and you have a really informative book. I think this would be a really great present for staying at somebody’s New England home for the weekend. Especially if they live near the water. They will be inspired by the designers who constructed these yachts. With background information you also learn quite a bit history of the trade. So dive into these iconic and beautiful images and get taken away by a craft that helped shape an industry.

I have always found yachts to be beautiful boats. With this book, you get an in depth look at the Schooner Yacht made right here in America. I found the history of how this boat originated to be extremely fascinating. I really liked seeing blue prints from some of the designers as well. After seeing the blue prints and then reading how these boats are then constructed is unbelievable. It's hard to imagine the craftsmanship and detail that goes into building one of these beautiful boats. The photographs of some of these yachts were absolutely breathtaking. I'm sure the pictures don't do these yachts justice. If you know of anyone who finds these majestic boats fascinating, this would be a perfect gift for them. I highly recommend this book!
