There is nothing worse than getting a bad haircut. Let's face it: sometimes you go to a new salon and you have no idea what they are doing to your hair, that is why we love, Haircutting by Peter Sabatini. In this book Peter explains the philosophy and science to precision and texturized Haircutting. This step to step guide features easy to follow instructions along with helpful illustrations. Peter Sabatini has been cutting and styling hair for over 50 years, and truly understands why techniques work, which as he explains most stylist do not. We should mention that the great stylists at Cutler Salon do understand the best techniques and that is why they are the official stylist of Whom You Know. We just love Rodney Cutler who is a Redken ambassador. Haircutting, by Peter Sabatini is great book to educate yourself or to give as a gift to your aspiring stylist friends.
Peter Sabitini's book on Hair Cutting is an excellent book to own for anyone getting into the hair dressing business! In fact I found it so informative I believe anyone can find this very useful whether you're an expert or someone looking for some info on hair. I really appreciate how Mr. Sabatini combines scientific background and the art of hair cutting to educate his reader. You really learn about the weight factor of the hair, what affects it and techniques used to enhance it. Really, this book was a great read and I'm not even a hairstylist! But the next time I get my hair done I'll be a little more knowledgeable and that feels great! This book was also very easy to read. I liked that it wasn't filled with jargon and found it very interesting.
When I first saw Peter Sabatini's book Haircutting: A Philosophy and Science to Precision and Textured Haircutting, I was unsure what to expect. This had to be one of the most interesting books I've read in quite a while. Only going to my stylist to either trim or cut my hair and to maintain my color, I don't think beyond just scissors cutting my hair. Now that I know a little more of how the hair works and some of the best ways to cut it, I can have a better understanding of what is happening when I'm getting my hair cut. I also like that Mr. Sabatini mentions that if your hair is cut by it's weight factor, you can comb it the way you want it styled and just let the air take it's course. I don't like to blow dry my hair if I don't have to, and this method of cutting hair proves you don't have to. One of my best friends is a hairstylist and I will definitely have to tell her about this book. I think this should be a must read for all hairstylists and a procedure that should be considered. I'm sure after everything I've read by Peachy about the Cutler Salon, they are using all the right techniques. If I'm ever visiting New York from the Midwest and I need my hair done, I know where I will be going.
We at Whom You Know love all things pertaining beauty - cleansers, moisturizers, makeup, hair products, you name it! We even have an official stylist: Cutler Salon. We simply adore Rodney Cutler, who is a Redken ambassador! But never before have we had the opportunity to review a book ABOUT cutting hair! But now, thanks to Peter Sabatini's book, Hair Cutting: A Philosophy and Science to Precision and Texturized Haircutting, we do! Mr. Sabatini has been cutting hair for over 50 years, and trained at some of the top haircutting academies in the world, including Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell. However, he was always left wondering why the haircutting techniques he was observing and learning worked! So, in this book, he gets to the root (so to speak!) of the issue! In this easy-to-read guide, he explains the basic science behind how and why hair grows, the importance of the weight factor of hair, and lays out very precisely how to work with the weight factor of the hair to create hairstyles that compliment the appearance, keep their shape, and are simple to maintain. At 36 pages, it is a quick read, and would definitely be a handy guide for any professional hairstylist, as well as any amateur hairstyling enthusiasts! Now, if only someone had given this book to my sister when she attempted to cut my bangs when I was in junior high school!

In the hi-tech society of the 21st century, it is surprising that the art of cutting hair is still taught with a watch, copy and learn attitude. Peter Sabatini’s book, “Haircutting A Philosophy and Science to Precision and Texturized Haircutting” (ISBN 1466263156), shows that by relating hair and its ability to support its own weight, which all hair can do, to the ability of plant life to do the same, he can break the art of precision and texturizing haircutting techniques down into a set of facts that will simplify the learning process for anyone wishing to cut hair, professional or amateur.
Haircutting instructors were never able to explain to Sabatini how and why the cutting techniques they demonstrated, worked. This started Sabatini thinking and after much thought he realized that by comparing hair to plant life he could break haircutting techniques down into a philosophy and science. This book is the result of over twenty years of writing and rewriting, to explain the cutting techniques in clear and precise terms.
Sabatini claims that when you cut and style hair by working with its weight factor the style is easy to maintain by shampooing, towel drying, brushing into shape and allowing the natural drying process to recreate the style. This is beneficial to the health of the hair and scalp by allowing the air to circulate through the hair and to the scalp. If one wants to enhance on the cut with a styling technique this will be a simple process because the basic style has already been created by the cut.
“Haircutting A Philosophy and Science to Precision and Texturized Haircutting,” Sabatini acknowledges that a book of this nature has never been attempted and hopes his discovery will revolutionize the hair industry by changing the way students are taught how to cut hair. His book is groomed to cosmetologists, barbers and even amateurs. All hairstyling professionals should find this book beneficial and helpful in improving their skills and income by studying this unique and informative book that shows how and why haircutting techniques work.
“Haircutting A Philosophy and Science to Precision and Texturized Haircutting” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
About the Author: Peter Sabatini has cut and styled hair for more than five decades. When he first started cutting hair in Great Britain in 1957, he couldn’t afford all the hairstyling gimmicks to style hair. He had to learn to work with the hair itself. Peter attended all the top haircutting academies and watched the top hairstylists, always looking for knowledge and seeking answers that no one could give him. He searched for them and found them himself and this book is the result. He believes that being a successful haircutter is the basis of a successful salon. If you can cut hair all the other services such as coloring and permanents should be in demand. By studying the concepts and techniques of cutting hair that are shown in his book, any student haircutter will find a foundation to work from that will allow them to become accomplished haircutters and hairstylists and will also allow many professional hairstylists to improve their techniques and the quality of their work.
