If you are looking for a good fall read, look no further than The Unspoken by Heather Graham. This is the second book of Ms. Graham's I've read and found it to be a page turner. It is part of the Krewe of Hunters series, which is a series I was introduced to in her last book I read. If you haven't read any of the previous Krewe of Hunters books, you might be a little lost while reading, but not completely. I found that I was able to sit and read and not know that hours had passed. I really liked how well written the love interest between Katya and Will was, even if it did develop rather quickly. Aside from that, all the mystery, sunken treasure, ancient curses, and paranormal activity are all reasons I couldn't put this book down. I have mentioned this book to several of my friends. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Graham and the Krewe of Hunters series.

Heather Graham is a master of the mystery/suspense novel, and The Unspoken is another triumph for her. The book is part of the "Krewe of Hunters" series, which features a special task force of the FBI who are able to communicate with the "other side" and who use their unique gifts to work on cases in which their appears to be paranormal activity. In this case, the story begins in 1898 with the sinking of the Jerry McGuen, a freighter bound for Chicago. Sailing on Lake Michigan, the freighter had nearly reached its destination when a it went down in a freak violent storm. All of the passengers and crew members were lost beneath the lake, along with an extraordinary load of treasures - including the sarcophagus of the Egyptian sorcerer Amun Mopat, which had recently been discovered in Egypt. The mummy was said to have placed a curse on anybody who disturbed his final slumber, and many believe that it was the curse that caused the Jerry McGuen to sink. Fast forward, now, to the present, when a dive team of researchers from the Chicago Ancient History Preservation Center is zeroing in on the exact location of the wreck and is working with a documentary team to record the salvage of the Jerry McGuen. The young Brady Laurie, anxious to be the first of his team to discover the wreck, heads out alone to find the ship. His fellow researchers, arriving only a short while later, also find the wreck, along with Brady's body. Krewe of Hunters agent Katya Sokolov is summoned to Chicago to investigate the situation and is soon convinced that Brady did not die alone - he was helped. Joined by fellow agent Will Chan and the rest of her Krewe, Kat delves deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the Jerry McGuen and Amun Mopat. Along the way, more lives are lost under highly suspicious circumstances, and more and more people are convinced that the curse of the mummy is true - Amun Mopat does not want his slumber disturbed. Fueling the panic is the fact that near the sites of the murders, cloth resembling the kind used to bind mummies is found...and when it is dated, it is found to be old enough to have come from ancient Egypt! To say "the plot thickens" would be an understatement - it thickens and thickens and thickens, leaving tantalizing clues that keep the solution just out of reach until its thrilling climax. A budding romance between Kat and Will adds some spice to the plot line, and provides a nice reprieve from the terror of the events taking place around them. Overall, a deliciously entertaining and chilling read - and another winner from Heather Graham.

Everyone likes a good murder mystery, especially one that deals with ancient curses and sunken ships from yesteryears. That is why we really enjoyed The Unspoken by Heather Graham. Graham, a New York Times Bestselling author, weaves a fascinating story in her new novel. In present day Chicago we meet a cast of memorable characters all trying to solve the mystery of the sunken Jerry McGuen. The McGuen met its fate in 1898 in Lake Michigan, when it sank, taking down with it 60 innocent lives. For years there had been speculation but no one knew the truth, that is until now. The recent discovery of the ship has historians, salvage divers and documentary film crews a buzz with bringing this exciting story to the public. That is until, unexpected deaths begin to happen, could there really be a curse or is foul play involved? With Kat Sokolov, FBI Investigator and Will Chan, media forensics expert on the case, the answers seem clear, well almost. Is the curse of Amun Mopat, an Egyptian Priest, whose sarcophagus may lay in the sunken Jerry McGuen, responsible for present day killings? You will just have to read The Unspoken to find out! Fair warning, don't read this before you go to sleep!

I have recently discovered the author Heather Graham and first had the pleasure of reading the book "The Unholy." The book was so thrilling that I was eager to read her next book "The Unspoken" as soon as I could! "The Unspoken" was the exciting, romantic urban fantasy that I had hoped for! I especially loved how Graham mixed real life mystery with ghosts. It made it very exciting to read! I love reading stories about the paranormal along with steamy love scenes. Watching the relationship between Katya and Will change quickly from animosity to romance made it such an interesting read! The book is so well written and an easy, enjoyable read. It's a great book to bring on vacation during downtime. I can't wait to read her next book!
