Upcoming Nightlight: French Heritage Society Celebrates its 30th Anniversary with a Fall Soiree in NY

Mademoiselle Peachy et Que Vous Connaissez  are pleased to announce:
On Wednesday, November 14th, French Heritage Society (FHS) will hold a festive fall soiree at the Union Club on Park Avenue in honor of its 30th Anniversary. In continuation of FHS’s commemorative festivities in France in October, the Society returns to The Big Apple for a Cocktail Dînatoire celebrating the love affair of Americans in Paris, the city’s Left Bank, its cafés, jazz music and life and its epicenter that all Americans have always known and loved: Saint-Germain des Prés!
The event is held under the high patronage of His Excellency François Delattre, Ambassador of France to the U.S. and Ambassador Gérard Araud, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations and Mr. Antonin Baudry, Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy. FHS Chairman Elizabeth Stribling, FHS President Comte Denis de Kergorlay and other French and American notables will be present. The Chairmen for the evening are CeCe Black, Margo Langenberg, Liz McDermott, Betsy Santarlasci, Jean Shafiroff and Ann Van Ness. Jazz will be supplied by The Alex Donner Orchestra and a Magician and Caricaturist will entertain guests throughout the night. A portion of the proceeds of the evening will benefit historical renovations for the Abbey of Saint Germain-des Prés.

WHY:

French Heritage Society was founded in 1982 as a two way street for Americans and French to share their love of historic architecture. FHS has contributed to almost 500 restoration grants and helped secure almost $18 million dollars for historic monuments, buildings and gardens in every department in France and to properties in the United States that reflect France’s historic influence. FHS has intervened after numerous natural disasters such as the 1999 storms in France and Hurricanes Hugo and Katrina in the U.S. FHS also organizes unique student internship opportunities in both countries and offers enriching cultural trips in France and the U.S. for its members. There are 13 Chapters in the United States and one in Paris.www.frenchheritagesociety.org
