Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premiere celebrity and memorabilia auction house, announces Hollywood Icons & Idols, an unprecedented Hollywood collection of over 800 items of screen worn wardrobe, props, original photographs, and celebrity owned items on November 9-10, 2012 at Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills Gallery.
Included in the auction is one of the most iconic screen worn dress in film history — Judy Garland’s blue gingham dress from The Wizard of Oz. As Dorothy Gale, Garland brought the magic of Oz to life. The blue and white pinafore costume (Est: $400,000-$600,000) is one of the only complete costumes known to exist which includes both original blouse and pinafore. Over 100 images relating to The Wizard Of Oz including Key book and publicity images with continuity photographs from the film will also be offered.
Also to be offered is a racing jacket worn by Steve McQueen emblazoned on the back with the name of McQueen’s company, “Solar Plastics Engineering,” and on the front with his name “Steve McQueen (Est: $40,000-$60,000), personal wardrobes from Tallulah Bankhead and Jayne Mansfield’s jungle cat print gown for a 1957 publicity shoot, Tallulah Bankhead’s aquamarine and diamond platinum ring (Est: $4,000-$6,000), and brooch she referred to as the “Star of Finland,” Clark Gable’s personal set of golf clubs (Est: $3,000-$5,000), Robert Goulet’s vintage T. Anthony traveling desk, jewelry and screen worn costumes from South Pacific, Camelot and Atlantic City (Est: Various), a Bruce Lee personally designed onyx and diamond ring accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Bruce Lee’s brother Robert Lee (Est: $20,000-$30,000), a collection of small pictures drawn and signed by Henry Fonda on set and given to stage manager John Crawford, a chair from Rick’s Café, Humphrey Bogart’s alluring nightclub from the classic filmCasablanca, (Est: $500-$1,000), Johnny Depp’s Dark Shadows sunglasses (Est: $2,000-$3,000) and the ultimate in Royal historical memorabilia, a piece of wedding cake from the 1981 wedding of Charles and Diana, Prince and Princess of Wales and the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The piece of cake from the wedding of William and Kate was a very special gift to Submariners, to whom William is Commodore (Est: $600-$800).
