Will Be Closed Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30
In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, the 10 national parks that make up the National Parks of New York Harbor will be closed Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Those parks are: African Burial Ground National Monument, Castle Clinton National Monument, Federal Hall National Memorial, Gateway National Recreation Area, General Grant National Memorial ( aka “Grant’s Tomb), Hamilton Grange National Memorial, Saint Paul’s Church National Historic Site, Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island, and Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site. Governors Island National Monument had already closed for the season on Sept. 30.
African Burial Ground National Monument, Federal Hall National Memorial, General Grant National Memorial (aka “Grant’s Tomb), Hamilton Grange National Memorial, Saint Paul’s Church National Historic Site and Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site closed today at 3 p.m. Castle Clinton National Monument and the Sandy Hook unit of Gateway National Recreation Area will close at 4 p.m. today, Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island and the Jamaica Bay and Staten Island units of Gateway Recreation Area will be closed at 5 p.m. today.
Though the parks anticipate re-opening on Wednesday, Oct. 31, please check before traveling to the parks that day.
