Terrific Takeout: Mimi's Pizza

Mimi's Pizza was the first cuisine EVER featured on Whom You Know:

Started by Mimi himself and owned by his son, Steve Vanacore today, Mimi's Pizza is a spot Peachy has been going to for many, many years. She went there for a long time before Whom You Know started, and we are proud to say we believe we are the first to put their menu online! So, check it out:

It is once again freezing in Manhattan and we are featuring our favorite spots for takeout, and Mimi's is certainly dear to us. Narrowing down so many excellent choices is not easy, but when you see the beauty of the Italian mixed salad, it is clear what a stellar side to pizza is! Peachy Deegan does not eat other olives, but she eats the olives at MIMI'S! They are smart to slice the onions thin and give generous slices of tomato, and the dressing is classic and terrific. It's no accident they've been around for over 50 years!

You must try the fresh garlic knots, and of course Peachy the garlic lover shakes even more garlic on them...

Of course, the real reason to go to Mimi's is the pizza. It is genuine New York pizza that you will miss if you ever leave New York and it's true, when Peachy lived in London she used to dream of this exact pizza. Mimi's has a single location on 84th and Lexington, very close to the subway so it is easily accessible for all of you even if you are not an Upper Eastsider. This time, Peachy picked the Verde and added garlic and spinach to it:

The Verde is composed of artichoke hearts, fresh tomato, tomato sauce and mozzarella and is completely to-die-for. All crusts at Mimi's are splendidly soft and bursting with flavor, and we don't know how they do it but we do always remember the story of how when Paul McCartney was dating Linda way back when, she lived with her parents on 83rd and Lexington and they used to frequent Mimi's a lot.

This pizza did not last long and it was piping hot.

Absolutely say hello to Dylan! He is fantastically friendly and will remember your name. Tell him it's not who you know it's Whom You Know and you know Peachy....
