Champagne Wishes: Peconic Bay Winery Lot #4 Red Label Malbec Blend Highly Recommended by the Wine Enthusiasts of Whom You Know!!!
This time of year is always full of fun festivities for the holidays. Christmas and other holiday parties will be happening throughout the next few weeks. And with all these activities, it is so important to have some great wine to go along with them! Impress your friends by bringing over a bottle of Peconic Bay Lot #4! This unique red wine is made from a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc. What is even more interesting, is that this great tasting wine doesn't come from Europe or even California. Peconic Bay Winery is located on the North Fork of Long Island! This wine is perfect for a dinner party, as it pairs very well with food. It can, however, be enjoyed all on its own! It is very easy to drink! It is very smooth, yet also fruity and with a hint of spice. I never would have guessed that wine this good could come out of Long Island!
Picking the right wine to pair with dinner, or just to enjoy as an after dinner dessert can be difficult. Having loved the previous Red Label wines from Peconic Bay Winery I've tried, I knew my decision would be easy. After making a crock pot chicken recipe, I knew I would want a nice wine with my dinner. I immediately went for the Peconic Bay Red Label Lot #4. With the hint of strawberry, I couldn't get enough. I savored every sip. The earthy aromas helped enhance the flavor of the strawberries. At the finish, I could taste a hint of Merlot, which was nice. I even enjoyed savoring this wonderful wine while watching my new favorite TV show. With the holidays right around the corner, I know that parties are at an endless supply. I know what kind of wine I am bringing to a few of the parties I attend. I highly recommend it.
Peconic Bay Winery makes an amazing wine called Lot #4. It's 50% Malbec, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 100% amazing. What a treat it is. I've never had the opportunity to have such a spectacular wine. I really do love it. I think one of the best parts about this wine is that it is from our great state of New York. It is very exciting to have the opportunity to taste something so wonderful that is made in our own backyard. This wine is very aromatic. It can just fill up your glass with the most amazing aroma! It's spicy and yet very smooth. I think it's a great bod and mature wine. Take it to a party and watch people talk about this wine all night.
"Happy grapes", as per the opening salvo at PeconicBayWinery.com , live on the North Fork. Over 400 years ago, a M. Fournier brought some european varieties of grapes with him to Long Island. That was the beginning of "happy grapes" in New York by the sea. Peconic Bay Winery was founded in 1979 and now rests in the hands of Paul and Ursula Lowerre, with a varietal catalogue of Rieslings, Merlots, Cabernets, Malbecs, Sauvignon Blancs and Viogniers. They produce Chardonnays as well, and a first for Long Island: Sono Renata Immature Grape Brandy. For an easy introduction to their wines, try the Lot #4, a Malbec based blend. Easy on the palate, perfect with food, fruity but not too sweet, this gorgeous red will stand you in good stead throughout the holidays. Idea: do a tasting chez vous for your friends with Peconic Bay's Lot #4 (and perhaps the #5 as well). Pile up the cheeses, and introduce the wines around. We love buying local, too, and Peconic Bay Winery makes it easy.

Peconic Bay tells us:
Our 2011 “Red Label” Malbec blend, called Lot #4 is a much lighter version of the 2010. Here the vintage was plagued by rain and cool weather towards the end of the growing season. The wine is very soft, but clean and bright. Very similar to a Beaujolais, it is low in tannin, low in acid and a simple drink good for every day drinking, especially nice with pizza and pasta. The aromatics keep it interesting, and the wine has such a refreshing finish, you’ll wonder where the rest of that bottle went to. We especially like Lot #4 chilled – take it out of the refrigerator and allow it to warm up just a bit. (This wine is $19.99 at www.empirestatecellars.com, 450 cases of 750s and 30 cases of magnums were produced.)
