Gotham Gadgets: How We Loved the Lenovo Android Tablet IdeaTab A2109 - Santa Do Fill Your Sleigh With These!
I was one of those people that was holding out on the tablet. My thoughts were why use it when I've been getting by just fine with my laptop and smartphone. I am always up for trying new pieces of technology, not necessarily as a purchase for me, but to help me find new ways to get the students in my classroom engaged. When I first received the Lenovo tablet, I was very impressed with how lightweight it was. The size was perfect and it was easier to take with me than my laptop. Since this tablet is an Android powered tablet with the backing of Google, I knew it wouldn't take me much time to learn how to navigate it since my phone is an Android backed by Google. I quickly learned how similar they were. Once I got the "hang" of using the tablet, I quickly went to that for my web needs over my laptop and phone. I use Google Chrome on my laptop and was pleased to see this was already downloaded onto the tablet. The touchscreen keyboard was very easy to use. I didn't find it tricky at all. The touch screen, not only for the keyboard, but for opening applications, was very quick. One of the first things I did after syncing my Gmail account was to set up social media and download a few games. One of the games I downloaded was "Tetris". I remember this game was an addiction of mine when I was younger and loved having the opportunity to play it again. I even played against friends to see if we could beat each others score. One of the applications that was already on the tablet which I kept going back to was the Ever Note. I am a notorious list maker and this was perfect for me. One of the lists I would make most was a list for items needed at the grocery store. I am always looking for new recipes and get frustrated when I print off a new one and it ends up being one I don't like and wouldn't make again. With the tablet, I was able to take it with me in the kitchen and Voila! No wasted paper! Since I used the tablet most for this, I knew I wouldn't want to keep it plugged in around food, but on the table where it would be more protected. I was very impressed with how long the battery lasted. As I mentioned earlier, I am always looking for new technology to get my students engaged in the classroom. After becoming familiar with this tablet, I now know that the Lenovo tablet would be perfect for my classroom. There are so many different educational apps that I could download and use to help individual students or in small groups. I could also download various books for those students who aren't quite at grade level yet so they won't be so embarrassed to read in front of their peers. I am very excited to do more research on all the different apps I can use to help them succeed In all, I am extremely impressed with the Lenovo tablet. I don't know how I'll cope without it now. If you are in the market for a new tablet, I would highly consider the Lenovo tablet.
