People who live near the Chesapeake Bay have such a love and respect for the area. Its rich history plays an important role. “Buried Treasure, A Pirate’s Tale” illustrates the major ports it housed. It also shows the treacherous waters that were filled with pirates. These pirates played a major role in our history and caused quote a raucous for trading and delivering goods. One of the most famous Pirates in this area was Capitan John Bloodsworth. The illustrations are rough and linear and are a perfect fit to the tale. With chests full of booty and drunken sailors, you are truly transported back in history.

This book was perfect for my son. He really enjoys reading about Pirates. Being new to the area he wasn't aware that there were pirates that sailed on the Chesapeake. He also really enjoyed the idea of looking for buried treasure. At the end they give you GPS coordinates of where the pirates buried their treasure. I have to admit I thought this was pretty cool too. He keeps asking to go to Kent island.

My five year old son loves all things pirate! He loves to dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate...you get the idea. This book follows Captain John Bloodsworth's adventures on the Chesapeake Bay in the 17th century. It is fast-paced, adventurous and interesting! I really enjoyed reading this tale of Captain Bloodsworth and his quest to find treasure and once he does, his quest to keep it!

I am always looking for new books for my boys to read at school. When I saw Buried Treasure, a Pirate's Tale, I knew it would be a winner as soon as I brought it in. Just the front cover made me want to open up and read. When I opened it up, I came across the prelude and read a lot of interesting information. I knew pirates roamed the Chesapeake, but I had no idea of the story of Captain John Bloodsworth. As I was reading, I became more and more excited to learn more. I know if I was that way, my boys would be as well. I can't wait to see their faces when I show them this book.
