’Twas the Day Before Christmas By Mover and Shaker Rick Roso
’Twas the day before Christmas, when all through Lime Rock
Not a racer was steering, not even a Roush
The wrenches were hung near the pits with due care,
In hopes that C. Whiting soon would be there.
But the drivers were testing, at speed in Flor-Ida,
Pedaling cars... are they title de-Ciders?
Crew chiefs in kerchiefs, staring at maps,
Much would be sorted with long winter laps.
When out on the tarmac there arose such a clatter,
Workers sprang from their corners and said, “What’s the matter!”
Away to the pitbox, crews flew like a flash,
Keying their mics, hoping no crash...
When what on their on-boards should some things appear!
Fast Audis and Bimmers and Chevies, top gear!
From the rim of steep banking to an old Air Force apron,
DPs and GTs, LMPs all a’layin’
Down laps that have sponsors and drivers all prayin’
That good times will come much sooner than later –
Quickness through corners so faster when straighter!
Winter at Lime Rock is a beautiful season,
The track could exist for no other reason...
... but no we want duking and dicing and winning.
Teams will come northward wanting winning not spinning.
So...
As we bridge seasons, between this year and next,
Christmas is goodness and kindness – the best!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
