and then Episode Three:
SPOILER ALERT!
Onto each life some rain must fall, and this episode is raining cats and dogs. The single most devastating episode in the history of Downton Abbey is this one, especially since in her real life enactment of Downton with her close friends, Peachy was playing Lady Sybil. However, with all of the glorious ups we've had we knew it couldn't be sunshine and rainbows forever, and to look at the bright side, they are all still at the acclaimed estate Downton Abbey....they haven't left it (yet?!?). Sybil is indeed muddled as they describe, however, we wish she were merely muddled today.
Hats off to Matthew Crawley, who is ever the lawyer, doing excellent due diligence on the estate now that he's sunk his fortune in as well. He's all about making the most of it all, and thank goodness the managers who were sitting upon their laurels were found out...but how to go about it diplomatically? That's not an answer that even the esteemed Dowager Countess has-and SHE is never at a loss for words.
Another faceoff: Mrs. Bird and Ethel Parks...but when Isobel is the dictator, is there even a battle?!
One quite uplifting part is essential: Anna has found proof!!! And it is no small victory...and also Edith is published so naturally we applaud such a feat. No matter if it is because of her name and title!
And the best news? It's a GIRL.
We are still giving this episode our highest recommendation despite the fact you'll need at least a box of kleenex to get through it...
Do Join Downton Abbey is PEACHY
