17th March 2013 – Mid-Century Modern, Dulwich College, Dulwich

A cult following of design aficionados will descend on beautiful Dulwich College once more this March for the revered vintage show, Midcentury Modern. As the popularity of midcentury design as both an investment asset and an interiors trend grows, the best dealers in collectable 20th Century furniture and homeware - Scandinavian, American Modernist, European Bauhaus, British, French and German Industrial - will set up shop for the one-day show, alongside a carefully curated selection of Britain’s most exciting modern designers.

Backed by Elle Decoration and lauded as a top shopping experience by Time Out, Monocle, Rough Guide to Vintage London, Grand Designs and the London Design Guide, Midcentury Modern is an unmissable event for its loyal fanbase, which includes such notable figures as Mary Portas, Orla Kiely, Tilly Hemingway, Jimmy Carr, and Dinos Chapman, as well as influential design retail buyers, interior designers, blockbuster movie set designers, and a host of VIP collectors.

A museum-quality curation of inspiring design from past and present eras awaits serious collectors, discerning homeowners and design lovers alike – they will find everything from original Cherner chairs to contemporary ceramic ranges. On the bottom floor of the Christison building, the South Cloister, Lower Hall and North Cloister, will be midcentury furniture and vintage home ephemera - wallpaper, ceramics, furniture and home accessories by new designers including Polly Granville, Lorna Syson and Louise Wilkinson, will be awaiting discovery on the upper floor.

New Collection Launches: There are some very exciting collection launches in the contemporary section this year. Jane Oliver, former flatmate of Donna Matthews from Elastica (they wrote the song 'Annie' together) and girlfriend of Gorillaz’s Jamie Hewlett, will be launching a dynamic collection of African-inspired geometric cushions. The fabulous Mini Moderns will be showcasing their new SOUTH BANK collection, only otherwise available at the South Bank shop. And Wintersmoon will be launching their new nasturtium fabric range just in time for Spring.

12th May 2013 – The Midcentury Show, Lord’s Cricket Ground, St John’s Wood

The Midcentury Show at Lord’s Cricket Ground brings together 50 top dealers selling classic pieces from the behemoths of design including Wegner, Eames, Jacobsen, Nelson and Day. Overlooking the Stirling Prize winning Media Centre designed by Future Systems, the Mound Stand designed by Sir Michael Hopkins, and the Grandstand by Nicholas Grimshaw, this is a fantastic venue for architecture enthusiasts, right in the centre of London.

Design Junction - London Design Festival 2013

For the second year running, Modern Shows will be resident at London Design Festival’s most successful destination, Design Junction, at The Sorting Office. It will once again showcase over 100 international design brands from ceramics, glassware, and accessories, through to textiles, furniture and lighting. The ground floor will be devoted to pop-up shops from Modern Shows through to Nokia, Falcon Enamel, FAO, Phaidon and Artek.

Modern Shows run a number of vintage and modern design shows each year that attract people from all over the UK looking to buy collectable furniture and design for the home. Between 40 to 100 dealers showcase either pure mid-century or a mix of mid-century and modern in atmospheres that make the experience an enjoyable Sunday out.

The Modern Shows team was picked by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and The South Bank to be the main furniture and homeware curator for Vintage Festival 2011 and also picked to fill a quarter of the downstairs space at the top show of Design Week, Design Junction. Design Junction attracted 30,000 plus visitors from here and overseas.
