DOMENICO VACCA DRESSES BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE NOMINEE DANIEL DAY LEWIS (LINCOLN) FOR THE OSCARS
Best Actor Oscar Nominated Daniel Day Lewis will be dressed in a Domenico Vacca tuxedo on Oscars night.
"Daniel saw my first collection in the USA in 2002 and he has been a fan since then" says Vacca, "two weeks ago we received a call from his office asking us to dress Daniel, we were thrilled! I met with Daniel and it was great to catch up with him and spend time talking about sartorial hand-made clothes, fits, fabrics and an art that only few of us still pursue in cloth making. Daniel understands quality, hand work and fabrics in clothing and it is an honor to dress such an amazing actor for the Oscars."
Domenico Vacca is making two tuxedos for Daniel Day Lewis, one black and one navy blue, the....winner will be selected at a final fitting in Los Angeles. Both tuxedos are single breasted and feature a shawl collar. Collar and profiles are in grosgrain, in the Italian sartorial tradition instead of satin. The tuxedo shirt is simple but still features Domenico Vacca's signature high collar.
Domenico Vacca will also dress Oscar nominated supporting actor Alan Arkin (Argo). Arkin, a very close friend of Vacca, will wear a single breast, peak lapel, black tuxedo. Arkin, also Vacca's big fan, wore a Domenico Vacca tuxedo when he won the Oscar for the movie Little Miss Sunshine in 2007.
Domenico Vacca has dressed many great actors for the red carpet: Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, Jeremy Piven, Will Ferrel, Dustin Hoffman, Steve Carell, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Frank Langella.
So far every nominated actor who wore a Domenico Vacca tuxedo at the Oscars has won the prize!.....we keep our fingers crossed that this year the same will happen with Daniel and Alan.....so we can keep being the Oscars' lucky charms!
