MARC JACOBS

New York Fashion Week

Fall - Winter 2013

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido wrapped up Fall 2013 Fashion Week in New York with the much-anticipated (and delayed due to snowstorm) Marc Jacobs show shown in a sepia-toned circular runway in the Park Avenue Armory. Guido and team cut and tailored wigs for all 55 models into a punky, rock n' roll shape that both highlighted the boyish cuts in some of the designer's styles and created the contrast with the rich, metallic, satin pieces that Guido sought to achieve.

"The inspiration tonight was taken from lots of different things! Namely a number of girls in the 1990's, and also Edie Campbell, a british model who's hair I recently cut short. It's overall very Marc, very in line with the kind of "cool girl" he likes to envision. The look was sprayed with water and Redken's shine flash 02 right before the girls walked to give it a wet-looking, shiny, even sweaty feel. It was look at once grungy, raw, and real - and I cut each wig with a razor once the model had it on to fit it to her face for a spiky, punky, choppy end result."

Guido pre-cut the wigs in this look for the show but cut and styled each individually once the models had them on. He first added Redken guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to the crown for extra height and texture on top. He then wet the entire style by spraying water and added Redken shine flash 02 glistening mist for a wet-looking finish.
