On 7 March 2013 Sotheby’s New York will hold its first Contemporary Art sale of 2013 with Passion + Transmission: A Single Owner Sale Of International Contemporary Art. The auction will showcase the art from some of the most important artists of the last 20 years with two particularly important works by Christopher Wool, as well as paintings and sculpture from Ugo Rondinone, Yayoi Kusama, Mark Bradford, William Kentridge, Francis Alÿs, Tracey Emin, Enoc Perez and many others. Overall the sale is estimated to fetch $7/10 million with part of the proceeds benefiting the CAP Foundation. The pre-sale exhibition opens on 2 March.

Scott Nussbaum, Vice President and Head of Contemporary Art Day Sales at Sotheby’s said: “We are delighted to open the year of Contemporary Art auctions with the single owner Passion + Transmission sale on 7 March. This collection was put together by connoisseurs who selected works by some of the best known names from the past two decades as well as exceptional pieces by emerging and younger artists. Their remarkable vision has resulted in a group of paintings and sculpture that are at once diverse yet coherent, challenging yet visually striking and sure to be sought after by both new and established collectors.”
