Peachy's Pantry Says You'll Be as Happy as a Clam with the Blue Crab Bay Co.’s Clam Dip Kit!
Whenever I go back out east to visit family, I always have to get clams in some way, shape or form. My friends are the same way when they go on vacation somewhere near the shore. When I opened the package that had arrived on my doorstep and saw the Clam Dip Kit by Blue Crab Bay Company, I immediately knew what I wanted to make for our next game night. Clam dips are always a hit with my friends and I. We always have toasted french bread to serve it on. I know I may take it up a notch and melt a little bit of cheese on top of the bread when I toast it. With the next game night quickly approaching, I can't wait for everyone to try this dip. After tasting other products from Blue Crab Bay Company, I know it will be amazing. I highly recommend it!
Open the box, and hmmmm. Pasta comes to mind. For a fast save, as a dip, this little "kit" is sublime, but oh, the possibilities. Once opened, with the seasonings in front of me, dinner came into being, as fast as boiling an egg. The extra added ingredient is the Sting Ray Spicy Bloody Mary Mixer, with Ocean Clam Juice. Inspired by the recipes on Blue Crab Bay's website, this dinner (enough for two) quickly came together. Saute crushed garlic, and the spice packet from the Clam Dip Kit. Add the Bloody Mary mixer and simmer, as you prepare your linguine. Plate, add some cheese, your favorite red wine, and for those of us who love our pasta "puttanesca", it's home. There is magic in this little kit, you'll savor the moments you make with it.
One of my favorite foods is sea clams. I eat a lot of clam rolls during the summer so I thought Blue Crab Bay Company's Clam Dip Kit would be a great treat for wintertime! This Clam Dip hit the spot! It is very easy to prepare and tastes so fresh and delicious. All you need to add is cream cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. This is great for parties because it takes very little time to prepare and tastes excellent! I made it for a little get together with friends and it was gone very quickly! My friends couldn't believe I had made this dip from a kit! Blue Crab Bay Company truly makes some of the highest quality food products I've ever prepared!

Blue Crab Bay Co.’s Clam Dip Kit has inspired countless reactions such as this: “Your clam dip is out of this world. I made some and took it to the office. They loved it! They didn’t want to use the chips, though. They wanted to eat it out of the bowl with a spoon!”
Packaged in an attractive box perfect for gift-giving, our Clam Dip Kit contains a 6.5-ounce can of Chopped Sea Clams from the mid-Atlantic and a precisely measured portion of our Clam Dip Blend, the product that launched our company in 1985. Parsley, chives, onion, cayenne, and herbs give the seasoning its delicate, memorable flavor.
For the Chesapeake Clam Dip recipe on the box, soften 8 ounces of cream cheese. Add ½ cup of mayonnaise and Clam Dip Blend. Stir until creamy. Drain chopped clams, and add to mixture, stirring gently. Serve chilled with plain crackers or chips. The recipe yields 2 cups. Absolutely addictive! Our president’s favorite – so much so, that her license plate bears the words “CLAM DIP.”
Blue Crab Bay Co.’s story
In 1984, Pamela Barefoot had a dream: to move to Virginia’s Eastern Shore and survive with her creativity. The rural coastal peninsula, bounded by the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, offered a blank canvas for entrepreneurial opportunity, inspiring Barefoot to start her own business. Driving around the back roads in 1985, she envisioned items such as spice blends for clam and crab, two seafood species prevalent in the Chesapeake.
On the table in her farmhouse kitchen, she mixed seasonings and dreamed of specialties that would embrace the flavors of the region. That canvas began filling with all sorts of possibilities, including the creation of local jobs, raising awareness of the region’s natural resources, and getting her new homeland on the map. Not long after she began, she rented space above a waterfront restaurant and immediately experienced a devastating fire. She moved her fledgling business back home. Then Hurricane Gloria hit, causing significant damage.
Undaunted by the setbacks, Barefoot became more intent on realizing her vision. In 1986, she entered a contest in a national women’s magazine and wrote: “I envision someday having a multi-faceted operation … including mail order, wholesale regional foods, corporate gifts, and a retail shop.” Her entry netted an award of $7,500 and major national publicity.
Business steadily increased, and like the blue crab of its logo, the company experienced several moltings. Barefoot’s hard work paid off. In 1999, she was named Virginia’s Small Business Person of the Year, and in 2003 the U.S. Small Business Administration tapped her as one of the nation’s Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs.
Today, her Bay Beyond Inc., a Virginia certified Small, Women & Minority Owned business enterprise, markets the Blue Crab Bay Co.® brand, which features award-winners such as Sting Ray® Bloody Mary Mixer with Ocean Clam Juice; coastal themed snacks such as Barnacles® and Dune Buggies®; seasonings; seafood dip kits; and fishnet-wrapped gift packs.
