SACAI
At the Ungaro and Sacai Fall 2013 shows in Paris today,
Redken Creative Consultant Guido emphasized the importance of envisioning one's total head-to-toe look to create not just a beautiful hairstyle, but one that works with the clothing in each collection to achieve perfection in the end result.
Every season, we always find ourselves reminded of Guido's genius while backstage at shows we'd least expect to be; at first glance both looks today might seem to be 'just a simple blow-dry' - until you speak with Guido. His ability to understand that the hair at Ungaro needed to be 'rich, but light' to not overwhelm the bold, 80's-inspired collection full of big shoulders and short skirts, and fall 'behind the clothing' for the highly designed, structured Sacai show is in fact no small part of what ultimately makes him one of the most conceptual, revered hairstylists in the industry.
Create the Look - Ungaro:
Create a natural and not-too-messy center part on damp hair, apply Redken satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion and blow-dry section by section with a round brush. The final look was then brushed out so that there was no wave and no volume on top.
"It's straight, but blow-dried with a round brush and satinwear 02 so it's slightly richer than your average bow-dry- and to me, just using a round versus a straight brush creates that difference. It's not too silky-smooth, and has almost just the memory of a rich, luxurious blow-dry; it's not grungy, but I still wanted it to feel light and easy and not too perfect. It's glamorous and very 80's, it's a rich girl's hair, and I can't say I have any real statement about the inspiration except that it's 'gorgeous.'" The collection is extreme and very sexy, with big shoulders and shorter skirts, and we needed beautiful hair to match, but nothing over the top. And because of the volume in the shapes in the clothing I put no volume in the hair - I was going for a light-but-rich feeling blow-dry."

Create the Look - Sacai:
Shampoo and condition hair using NEW Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo & Conditioner for added strength and shine to create a glossy, natural clean-hair look. Create a messy center part with your fingers while hair is damp, clip hair behind the ears and let dry naturally. (If hair is very curly or wavy, rough blow-dry instead of air-dry.) Apply a bit of Redken All SoftArgan-6 multi-care oil to the ends to eliminate any frizz for a healthy-looking finish. Remove clips when finished and keep hair tucked behind ears.
"Easy-going and very simple look at Sacai today - it's all about natural texture and is tucked behind the ears - she's a very cool, nonchalant girl. All the hair is behind the clothing - the collection is highly designed, and so you have to think the simpler the hair, the better. "
