This post is dedicated to Peachy's grandmother Elizabeth Deegan, who passed away from brain cancer. Though we only knew her for eight years, she has been the most influential person in Peachy's life.

Now is Good-make the most of your moments-seize the day! That philosophy reminds us of Carpe Diem and Dead Poets Society, but in Now Is Good, has a whole new meaning. At Whom You Know, we try to find the best of everything and the best in everything, but when it comes to cancer we are sincerely at a loss. There is absolutely nothing good about cancer, however, if you are faced with its challenges either personally or through a loved one, you must adopt the best attitude possible to make the most of life. As they say in Now is Good, anything could happen next. And by the way, this takes place on the other side of the pond and we love all the smart phrases employed like "nipping in there" that we wouldn't think to say here...and from the colorful animated opening credits, you'll know that Now is Good is a celebration of a "young lady taking life by the horns" as the DJ says early on.
Diagnosed with childhood leukemia at age 10, Tessa, played by American Dakota Fanning (we believe all other actors were Irish/English), demonstrates from the opening scene that she is determined to live the best life she can four years later, and in a single word, Now is Good is INSPIRATIONAL. Every moment of her ups and downs, Tessa will bring you with you and the strong script will evoke emotional responses as you recall your own coming of age stories as you see Tessa progress. From a girls night out to her first time, Tessa shows the audience that growing up is hard to do, but even harder with cancer. We applaud her self-respect that is evident throughout, and her optimistic outlook. She consistently stands up for herself and stands up to authority so she can life the best life she can.
From flying machines to discovering that life up in a tree is a preferable way of life, Tessa shows the audience that thinking outside the box and celebrating life's moments are precious, whether you have cancer or not. And according to Tessa, having cancer is a bit like being stalked by a psycho...
If hospital scenes make you as queasy as Peachy, you'll have to look away when she has her hospital visits especially if you have lived the experience of cancer firsthand, but know that the overriding factors in this great film are the commendable character development scenes highlighted by newcomer Jeremy Irvine (he looks a bit like Patrick Swayze), who we believe proved to be the most laudable actor in this film. He has the courage to ask Tessa if she is afraid. His actions that spoke louder than words and his ability to rise to the occasion at the end of the day will make you love life. He makes her famous. A close runner up is Paddy Considine who plays Tessa's dedicated dad. A dedicated dad is central to any girl's life we can testify - as Peachy has got one! We also love the character of Zoe who shows what true friendship means to Tessa.
If you are a bucket-list-maker, you'll applaud what is literally on the wall above Tessa's bed that she would like to check off before she passes and this includes everything from notoriety to growing up. And speaking of passing, you'll love to see what happens in one scene where she does pass out-we won't give it away. However, someone does say he hasn't had that effect on affecting someone that way before!
In terms of scenes, it is hard to beat the motorcycle on the beach and learning how to skip stones in the sun. We love the bench overlooking the cliffs. Our favorite part of the movie was the closing sequence, which culminates as bit of a highlight reel that celebrates all that is good in Tessa's life.
Whom You Know Recommends Now is Good. Though cancer is horrible, facing it with the best attitude deserves our applause. Now would be a good time for you to watch this!
