We have yet to meet a woman that doesn't love shoes! And Merrell Publishers, our friends across the pond, have hit another out of the park. They continue to impress us with their high quality books that not only look fabulous on your coffee table but also make top gifts. In Cult Shoes, we learned quite a lot. Who knew that Henry VIII's shoemaker Cornelius Johnson became the first person to make football boots in 1525? Louis XIV and his court made sure it was de rigeur for the soles of the aristocracy to be painted red. You surely will be able to add to your cocktail party conversation arsenal with the tidbits included in this book.
We believe Saks Fifth Avenue was the first store to ever have a gigantic shoe department, having its own zip code included. This book has published that Selfridges on Oxford Street is the biggest today, though it seems that Macy's has it in the works to become even bigger possibly. In any event, we always believe in quality over quantity and that means you Imelda with 2,700. And did you know Danielle Steele has 6,000 pairs, most of them Louboutins estimated to be worth about 2 million British pounds.
You'll love the photography and page-turners and these some of these shoes are truly works of art. Among the brands featured that we've also featured is Camper, and a br
and that we have not featured that looks fantastic is Charlotte Olympia (we get a kick out of Bananas is my business). We see old favorites like Church's and Clark, however we'd like to see more brands like Paul Mayer Attitudes and Aigle included which the author should have included among these greatest hits.
We're reminded that in the UK and Ireland they call sneakers trainers...
Whom You Know Recommends Cult Shoes: Classic and Contemporary Designs! Bravo, Merrell.
