CE Week Partners With The City of New York to Showcase Exciting NYC Startups at CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits
CE Week, the consumer electronics and technology industry’s annual mid-year event, today announced several new partnerships to support New York City’s innovative tech subsectors and bring local up-and-coming startups to CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits. The 2013 CE Week Line Shows and Exhibits are scheduled for June 26-27 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building in New York City. This event is the official show headquarters of a weeklong series of CE technology events taking place in the city during the course of CE Week, June 24-28.
“The technology sector in New York City is an increasingly important aspect of the economic well-being and future outlook of our City,” said New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) Executive Director Kyle Kimball. “The partnership between CE Week and NYCEDC will provide programming that will help foster this sector in order to further cultivate a booming environment for technology.”
As part of NYCEDC’s efforts to support New York City’s booming technology sector, NYCEDC has planned a two-day exhibit, panel, pitch night, and keynote to take place during CE Week. Highlights from the programming include:

Find out what’s next in the CE world by meeting 20 exciting up-and-coming startups representing a wide-range of NYC’s industry verticals.
The Digital Health Summit: Wednesday, June 26, 11:30 a.m. | Metropolitan Pavilion, 4th Floor
Kyle Kimball, Executive Director of NYCEDC, will kick-off the Digital Health Summit. With Mayor Bloomberg committed to improving the health and wellness of all New Yorkers, Kimball will discuss the core digital health technologies that are addressing the challenges facing New York.
The Consumer Revisited: Wednesday, June 26, 4:45-5:30 p.m. | Metropolitan Pavilion, 2nd Floor
Hear representatives from NYC-based businesses Grand St., Skillshare and Artsicle discuss the changing relationship between producers and consumers in media, the arts and consumer electronics. These marketplaces are giving consumers – and the businesses that aim to reach them – new options for tuning in, learning and buying. Lauren Goode of All Things D will moderate.
New York’s Next Top Makers Pitch Night: Wednesday, June 26, 7-8 p.m. | Metropolitan Pavilion, 2nd Floor
Six finalists from NYCEDC’s New York’s Next Top Makers competition will pitch their products on stage before a live audience. A panel of New York Angels investors comprised of Chairman Brian Cohen and Directors Larry Richenstein and Mark Schneider will select one winner to be awarded a free booth at the 2014 International CES. Jessica Lawrence, Executive Director of NY Tech Meetup, will serve as the evening’s emcee.
Keynote: Thursday, June 27, 9 – 9:45 a.m. | Metropolitan Pavilion, 2nd Floor
Ayah Bdeir, CEO and Founder of littleBits, which offers an open source library of modular electronics, will discuss “Making in NYC.”
NYC Digital will sponsor the “Made in NY” Lounge to promote the city’s recently launched campaign, “We Are Made in NY”, an initiative which aims to support the local tech scene by providing resources and programs that help startups grow, highlighting job openings at tech startups, and helping to introduce “novices” to the growing industry. The “Made in NY” Lounge will be located in the NYC Startup Pavilion at the Altman Building Gallery, June 26-27.
The New York Angels will be holding its (private) monthly investment breakfast at CE Week onWednesday, June 26 from 8– 11 a.m.
