The color is taupe, which is a highly underrated shade in our opinion. It is more hip than coffee, and way more cool than brown. Taupe is a classy neutral that can be paired in the summer with white, cream, and many colors that like to take more of a center stage, with taupe being complimentary. It also is superlative with navy, as you can see from the jeans combination.
The textures and details employed in this sweater are like no other. Charlotte intelligently uses 100% silk pleating vertically at the top, which is a beautiful detail and the lines make you look taller. The lace and embroidery embellishments evoke a trend we believe will become more dominant: more is more. However, Charlotte does these extras with panache that set the wearer apart without becoming overdone or ridiculous.
The pure attention to detail is exquisite and the flirty lace is strategically placed in a part of your front above what no eyes will be privy to while the sweater is on.

This is the story of a young girl with a sparkling dream. Her name is Charlotte Tarantola. Growing up in Eugene, Oregon, young Charlotte had a passion for painting, art and design. Little did she know that fashion was in her blood until she stumbled upon a family attic filled with reams of fine fabrics and endless spools of rhinestone trimming. She then learned that generations of family members had worked in the fashion business. And so, the attic full of treasures proved that her course was set – it was a sign of her past and the map to her future.
With a one-way ticket in hand, Charlotte set out for New York City where she enrolled at The Fashion Institute of Technology. Her passion for design, a keen sense of garment construction and an entrepreneurial spirit guided Charlotte through various design opportunities where she honed her craft. For six years she worked for a range of fashion brands, but the same driving force that took her from Eugene to New York moved Charlotte to strike out on her own.
She switched coasts once again, this time to Los Angeles, where Charlotte was immediately drawn to the city’s vintage thrift stores and Old Hollywood glamour. Through a combination of talent and timing, Charlotte struck gold with innovative graphic tee shirts inspired by vintage postcards. Fred Segal quickly took notice and Charlotte’s sweet dream came true in 1996 when she launched her namesake collection, CHARLOTTE TARANTOLA.
In the years since the debut of CHARLOLTTE TARANTOLA, the brand has come to epitomize “flirty, feminine charm” with signature tees, knit tops and cardigans.
