Onion Pita by Damascus Bakeries Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!
If you are thinking Mediterranean for dinner, and you really need some pita to go with hummus or to fill with some delicious meat and veggies, then do not settle for anything less than the best. Damascus Bakery makes the best pita bread you can find in the grocery store. I have been picking their pita bread above the rest for years. I was really excited to try their Onion Pita, which has the same great taste and texture as their regular brand of pita, but with an added hint of onion flavor. These pitas will really liven up your meal. And since Damascus bakes everything homemade in Brooklyn, you know you are getting a really fresh product. For dinner tonight I filled the Onion Pita with grilled chicken and roasted vegetables. It was a truly fantastic meal!
I've long been a big fan of pitas - they make a tasty and fun alternative to regular sandwich bread, and can also be used in a variety of other ways (e.g., baked pita chips - yum!). I'd never given much thought to the quality of pitas, though, until I tried one that really caught my attention with just how good it was! The pita in question is Damascus Bakery's Onion Pita. This all-natural, fat-free product clocks in at just 150 calories, yet is one of the most enjoyable bread products I've tasted in quite some time. Very soft, and infused with just the right amount of onion flavor - not overwhelming, but definitely present, this pita was the perfect accompaniment to my favorite "Mediterranean meal," which I like to nibble on in warmer weather. I set it on a plate with hummus, olives, and cheese, and made all kinds of tasty combinations for myself - pita and hummus; pita and cheese; olive and cheese; pita, hummus and olive...well, you get the picture! The pita was a great addition to the meal - tasty, and satisfying, without an ounce of the guilt that would have been there if I'd gone for a different type of bread! So, if you're looking for an easy, healthy way to add some variety to your dining rituals, definitely give Damascus Bakery's Onion Pitas a taste!
For the Damascus Bakeries Onion Pita, I made lamb shawarma. I have this lamb shawarma recipe I’ve been meaning to try for a while. It calls for onions, and I’m one of those people who likes the flavor of onions but doesn’t like to actually eat them. What to do? Make the recipe without onions and put the shawarma in a Damascus Bakeries Onion Pita! It was delicious. The tangy-ness of the lemon-olive oil-cucumber-yougurt marinade contrasted perfectly with the light onion flavor of the pita. This was quite a wet and messy concoction for the pita, but the bread held up well until almost the end when it started to crumble a bit from the marinade. However, that didn’t detract from the wonderful taste. The onion pita really brought the whole dish together, and I would recommend trying it.
Many moons ago, an Armenian Mom taught me one her favorite snack solutions. It involved a pita bread, some string cheese, and a hint of mint. Take one Damascus onion pita, drizzle some excellent olive oil over it, shred some string cheese over one side, and you're on your way to making a mini-pizza, Armenian style! Add a little oregano, and maybe a pinch of salt, and you're home. the flavor of the onion pita is unbelievable. Just a whisper of onion, and almost sweet, this pita would be the perfect sandwich bread. Fill it with cheese, or vegetables, and you have a delicious way to lunch. Scramble some eggs, add some crispy bacon, and you've got a breakfast sandwich. The possibilities are endless with a pita bread. Not just an exotic ingredient in a Middle Eastern restaurant anymore, pita bread by Damascus should be in your pantry now.

The Bake-Sense Roll-Ups were created by Damascus Bakeries in Brooklyn. The bakery is owned and operated by third-generation bakers David and Edward Mafoud. The two brothers, whose maternal grandfather started the bakery in 1930, believe that bread is a labor of love. And that love goes into each package of their pita, lahvash, panini and roll-ups.
The Mafoud's also believe in the credo “Keeping well beats getting well,” which was the inspiration for the Bake Sense Roll-Ups. The flatbreads contain heart-healthy fibers, proteins and nutrients while also being low incalories and carbs. The Bake Sense Roll-Ups were designed to naturally help promote weight management and well being.
But health aside, the roll-ups are pliable and delectable. For instance, the Garden and Grain Roll Ups have ingredients that read like the offering at a farmers market stand. The flatbreads contain red and green bell peppers, onion, spinach and sunflower seeds – which makes them as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate.
